Well, I was at this "comercial" club here in Norway a few days ago as some of my friends from school nagged me to come. As I expected the lazy DJ (that didn't even look at the crowd btw.) was playing the usual pop and r'n'b music from the hitlists. Later the night I asked the DJ to play some trance and he said "dance, and I'll out some on..". He finally put on some old trance (like mauro picotto - komodo++ and you know..) -all of them radio edit's of-course. Then I found my way onto the dance floor and as the beats was going everybody seemed to like it until the breakdown came. No one understood what to do when there was no beat but then the beat came back and the people was dancing again. After a few tracks the DJ was about to mix into another trance track. He was trying for the first time and everything went boom-crash and again and again with the same results. He found out that this wasn't leading anywhere so he just stopped the track that was playing and started somewere in the middle of the next track. He was supposed to be a really great and well-known (???) DJ.. :nervous:

At the end I'll lust have to laugh of the whole story..

Yeah, that's the main reasons breakdowns are stupid--they destroy the flow and rhythm of dancing.

haha, dont they feel bad when all they do is slam crossfaders?
RTP
Hahahahaha... :haha:

Breakdowns ... I would have left the club :stongue:

Hey, what did you expect me to ask for? Psytrance, DnB or maybe speecore? It's limited what the masses can take. At least it is where I live. :)

why should a dj change the music in the club just to suit YOU? if no one else likes it then whats the point? Youre making out that you are better than them, that is your intention here clearly. And you arent.

I was never mentioning that I'm better than anyone. That's up to others to decide. I just wanted to hear some music I like that night and therefore I asked the DJ to play some of it (besides I was quite drunk). I just wanted to point out that the DJ weren't that skilled as I was expecting him to be from what I heard ...but that's just in my opinion of-course.

...and btw someone else did like the music as I wrote in the post, they just didn't know this kind of music that well. :)

I decided already.

There is no point in going to a club like that and asking for a 'trance' track. :haha: the dj doesnt want to play stuff like that, and the crowd dont want to hear it.

Been there, done that. But all clubs are commercial ;) But I understand what u mean. In my hometown there are lots of very cheesy après-ski bars and cafés... Really can't stand the music in there. As of cheesy music I think Holland is one of the world leaders i'm afraid (look at places like Val Thorens, Salou, Lloret de Mar etc.. :whip: ) :nervous:

dj_alucard
yeha big breakdowns are a no go over here when you got a floor filled

even with electronica

im trying to minimize my newer ones to only 30secs at the longest

I would not ask if I weren't drunk (know it's wrong blaming the alcohol) but hey! The DJ played it and the crows liked it, so what's wrong?
