not that it matters, but ohio just got the "too close to call" status on cnn. it may be a while before absentees are tabulated.

And my hope for the country was a divided executive branch and legislative branch. Clearly the two cannot effectively operate together responsiblity. On the one hand we had a republican controlled congress issue a heavily pork laden omnibus bill with no hint of presidential veto. On the other hand we had an administration medicare bill with rediculous costs pass without a whimper from congress. They pat each other on the back and there are simply no checks and balances that might introduce a situation of fiscal responsibility.

I'll agree with you here. Though I'd rather a democratic congress and a repub for a president.

But hell, as you said before, as long as we get out tax cuts.... :)

That's why I concluded that I would be personablly better off ;). If so many poor people in southern states want less welfare spending and discretionary spending in their states than so be it. If that many people think that Bush can continuously give them promises that he can't pay for which will ultimately have negative ramifications on their day to day living than so be it ... I'm hardly affected. them. I guess I'm a darwinist at heart :D

ya explore the republican feeling in you, tap into the dark side of the force....

I guess though its just the same attitude you expressed regarding a desire for US isolationism - this is the same thing except on the national, not international scale.

Yes I embraced isolationism which was rather selfish to do. But I ultimately recognized ignorant ingratitude when it presented itself. If people didn't want the US interfering in world affairs than so be it. Similarly, I'm not going to look upon this election and continously bitch about the results ... spout out the same old crap about how I'm going to move from the county, etc. I'll still criticize Bush, but I'm not going to let it get to me. Hell it's not going to hurt me. I'm guessing a lot of other people will be negatively impacted. But what can I say? I did my part ... You're responsible for your actions. Sucks for those people who voted against Bush, but what can you do? The majority wins and you're not going to find a different situation anywhere else. OH well ...

That's the real kicker of the night. Bush is winning the popular vote big, AND he'll get above 50% which is something Clinton never did. Voter turnout was massive, and it was FOR the Republicans. There were a lot of rules broken tonight, and it will be a long time before we catalogue everything that's happened. (Can you say Redskins?)

I need to get to bed...my services may be needed tomorrow in Wisconsin.
