New mod(s) for the political forum?

I think the last couple of days harsh posting and rapid duplicate thread creation in this forum highlights that we need one of the regulars to have mod power. I am aware that election night is a rare event, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't have a mod for any future problems (such as useless threads moved here from COR and the occasional troll).
I am also aware that the mods say that they ask people to be mods and that's it. But maybe if we could all agree on one or two of the active regulars they would allow him/her/them to be a mod in this sub-forum?

There's a lot of people I would like to have mod power, but I'll only nominate Shakka, as the others are people I mostly agree with, and my impression of them might be too influenced by that.

So what do you say? Do we need a real PF-mod, or am I simply wasting precious band-width here? Any suggestions?

I think it's evident now more than ever that something ought to be done. I know it has been discussed in the past with no clear conclusion thus far. It's probably more difficult to properly moderate this forum than it is any of the other forums on TA, simply because of the problem of impartiality - especially given that many of the regulars are very passionate about their positions.

either way. this forum has been left alone by the mods, and I don't mind that. it's been a decent place apart from many ignorant posts in the last day, and i'll take credit for a few of those as well.

i think it will get a bit better in here once people stop being bitter and move on. then we'll probably get back to civility.

I think that this influx will die off in a couple of days, but yeah. We do need a mod here. Occrider's already been voted in twice but nothing's been done about it. So, Swamper, how about it?

If you guys want I can bring it up for discussion in the moderators forum, although I do agree with you, Arbiter, that it would be quite difficult to moderate a forum where a person's posts are based on their ideals and beliefs, and you can't 'judge' a thread based on such grounds.

Where intellectuals meet to discuss their views and hope someone else agrees with them. Enter with caution & a dictionary.

It says to enter with caution

Stop whining...there are about mass liberal threads huggin the front page.

Having passionate ideals doesn't preclude you from being fair and impartial. I mean, it's not like the mod is going to just start closing threads that he disagrees with or something. Occrider's demonstrated an open-mindedness and a willingness to accept the viewpoints of others, so why hasn't he been asked to mod yet, even though he's been elected twice by the regulars?

Shut up. You're one of the reasons we need a mod in here.

Renegade-

I'll go post about it now. It's something that I also agree needs to be implemented, and I wasn't aware that a member had already been chosen twice by his peers.
speedracer_mec
explain pls...

because we post about 1/3 as many conservative threads to the mass amount of Liberal ranting threads?

Did you ever notice trancerX's streak of copy and paste threads....where he simplied copied a left wing article and posted it...There were many threads.

Quit acting like a dick and understand this forum has room for two parties. Im sorry this forum is dominated by liberals anymore

Something needs to be done in the PF. I don't mind the harsh opinions, except when they turn into personal attack, they are expected in heated political topics. However, when the exact same thread pops up 10 times in an hour something should be done, hopefully this will die down soon.

check that thread out= tons of liberal threads dealing with the same topic----HATE

that doesn't even begin to count the number of times people like me are called red-necks and bible huggers etc. If conservatives don't post with the same frequency then our views will be continually walked over by the global hate towards Bush and his supporters
We will not let that happen. This forum has space for two.
