Throwing out 1200 plastic tops
View this Thread in Original format

I'm finally buying some split top flight cases for my 1200's. Those crappy plastic things don't cut the mustard.

I've also been carrying the original crappy boxes around for everytime I move.

Question is : Can / should I throw out my 1200 original cardboard boxes & the plastic 1200 tops ?

I'm never going to use the boxes again, and IF I sell my decks, I'm going to sell them with the cases anyway (had my decks forever - can't see me selling them).

boxes: yes if your TTs are out of warantee, if not keep them until they are.

Dust covers ("plastic tops"): Keep them!

1200 dust covers are insanely expensive. They are usually over $40 ea.

Selling a turntable that is complete (including box, manuals, etc) is always easier, because you can show the original packaging and stuff.

I would definately keep the dust covers, and keeping the box is up to you.

totally agree, don't throw the dust covers.

if you are hell bent on getting rid of them it should be easy enough to sell them, people are always breaking them so are willing to buy second hand.

Took me some time to find second hand dust cover cause my turn table didn't have any when I bought them :P

dust covers fit in flight cases.

Well, plastic dust tops & cardboard original boxes are both going in the bin.

Good advice above, but these flight cases are the actual Technics ones, and as a result, don't fit the dust tops. Furthermore, you have to actually remove the slot in the back (that holds the dust covers) to fit the 1200's into the flight case.

Lovely fit though - looks good enough to pretend I'm a superstar DJ ... LOL
