So I am just getting in. There's an add contact notification for trillian sitting on my desktop.
I am look, okay, cool, whatever, ADD CONTACT.
So, the new contact shows up on my list, and I have no idea who it is, but here display name reads: "Slut Kitten! Feeling Naughty. - I'm sick with the flu" only with crazy ass symbols and (»§lυт қιттεи«! ƒεεlιи ×иαυgнту×...*im sick with the flu... waaaaa*) , cuz kids like to make things annoying to read.
So, being the handsome devil that I am, someone musta looked me up on MSN, saw my hot pic and wanted cybersex... I mean, I wasn't too impressed with the display name. I checked the profile, but alas, I still didn't know wtf just added me. But, THIS PERSON is 14. Since when did grade 9s think its cool to be a "slut kitten"?
Here is the conversation that followed:
Session Start ([email protected]:»§lυт қιттεи«! ƒεεlιи ×иαυgнту×...*im sick with the flu... waaaaa*): Thu Nov 04 20:29:40 2004

dumbest conversation I ever had.
But, seriously, wtf is with kids and "omg sex is cool!"?
I am doing an extra year of high school right now, and its disgusting how sleazy high school girls are now. Especially when they walk around with like low-cut pants and you can see their thongs... GROSS. And apparently at school dances (which I don't even bother with), they dress like whores. Recently at the Halloween dance, 90% of the girls were Playboy Bunnies, decked out in nothing but lingerie.
ING GROSS!!!
I just had to vent here. |
I'll stand by him. It's true, our nations youth is being shown younger and younger idols in the media dressing in less and less. So with those role models, of course they do the same thing. There are stupid things guys do to, but not on the level of our nations females. It's crazy how the women act in Afghanistan, with the veils in public and all, but we need to find some kind of medium. |

| Who cares what they want to wear? Seriously, live your own damn lives and stop telling other people how to live theirs. |

| Hmm, my guess would be bad parenting. I think a lot of people have kids early on in the marriage and only do it because it seems like the natural thing to do. If you aren’t ready to have kids, don’t have them. It gets worse when the kids get older too, because that’s usually when the parents start having marital problems, and so they are too wrapped up in their own bull to even give a crap about what their teenagers are doing. |

This is so true, my pearants did it and i have a freand who is 16 and her perants are going it to her, she has not speeken to them properly since she was 13, shes pritty messed up in the head, but still a very good freand. Shes very grown up for her age, which i think is wrong, you should be able to live till about 18 not having to care about things apart from your education, and not having to have the resonsablity for a babe at the age of 13, which she had. Cant be good for the long run. |

I think people are just having sex way too early these days. Most people just aren't psychologically prepared for it at 15 or 16 years old, even though this seems to be the most common age for many people to become sexually active. I don't think it should be banned or illegal or anything, but people should just use a little more discretion and caution when dealing with things in this world that could have such significant results (sex=children, drugs=death, alcohol=death, marriage=death). Keep in mind, I said 'COULD'...not always, but you do always run the risk of something happening everytime you cross that line - you know exactly the line I'm talking about.
I just wish people would be a little more careful about things...or at least, wait until you're responsible enough to be able to handle the goddamn results! :whip: |

It's a bit of a stretch to assume that just because someone dresses provocatively or uses a particular screen name that they're going out and having irresponsible sexual relationships.
The facts disagree with this inference as well: teenage pregnancy has been declining sharply for some time now.
Ultimately, though, I still don't see how it affects you or why it should be any of your business. |

this is such an overdiscussed topic. Blame the media, blame the movies. Kids have been sexually curious for centuries-it's just becoming less taboo to be open about it. Whatever. If you know they're doing it anyway, at least teach them how to do it right. Give out condoms in high school. You can't stop them-you can only encourage them to be smart (as smart as they can be at that point)
and Matt, just curious-how old are you?? |

Well, yeah, but that's not what I was getting at. My mention of sex was in regards to the conversation being developed that, somehow, managed to tie-in with the original thread topic.

That's good to know, but you still see children up for adoption because the teenage mother was too irresponsible to take care of him or her. I suppose it's better that the child is cared for by foster parents or authorities that can provide a superior life to the one posed by this irresponsible teenage mother, but if that's only considering the stark contrast to the child being born with defects (from said irresponsible parents' drug-use, alcohol abuse, etc..) or dying of malnutrition, there's still a discrepancy to be considered and addressed.
All of the pain and suffering will force the child to become stronger in life, yes, but don't we always strive to absolve pain and suffering, especially for children? There's too much subjectivity and variation for me to take a one-sided stance here - just too much to consider; thankfully, I don't have to because...

I'm not an irresponsible parent. But I could be, and it's a very scary thought that I could have sex with my 15 year-old friend and she could become pregnant from my inadvertance or the remote possibility (2%) that latex fails. I'm not rallying for the ban of underage sex (that's subjective as well), I'm just saying that a lot of resources could be diverted to more important things in life if people weren't irresponsible at immature ages. I know what I say won't change things though. :happy2: |
