Being an irresponsible parent isn't a priviledge reserved for the younger generation, there are just as many (if not more) irresponsible parents who are (supposedly) mature. But it's my opinion that it doesn't really have anything to do with "kids these days," since "kids these days" for whatever reason are becoming parents less often than "kids in those past days."
It's true that a lot of resources could be diverted to other things if people weren't irresponsible, many people just happen to be irresponsible, and there's nothing we can do about it. At the very core of being a human individual is that there's only so much you can do about what another person chooses to think or do. And most of the time, people try to do too much, not too little, to control others.
The simple fact of the matter is that we can spend those resources that we have left over trying to make the world a better place through better education, greater acceptance of individual differences, and efficient investment of present-day resources in developing the infrastructure to support the future, or we can spend those resources trying to make everyone dress the "right" way or by vainly trying to suppress the sexuality of people our society arbitrarily deems "too young," even though nature obviously disagrees. |

Would you not agree that you are a more responsible person, more in control of your life and making vastly different decisions than when you were 14?
These last 6 years have changed me so much, i can look a year back and see how I changed. 6 years ago I wasnt me. I was a different person. irresponsible and making crazy decisions. They have found that the brain doesnt finish forming until 18+ specifically the frontal lobe in control of judgment.
I mean, babies can ejaculate, doesnt mean they are ready to be parents. |

But, seriously, wtf is with kids and "omg sex is cool!"?
I am doing an extra year of high school right now, and its disgusting how sleazy high school girls are now. Especially when they walk around with like low-cut pants and you can see their thongs... GROSS. And apparently at school dances (which I don't even bother with), they dress like whores. Recently at the Halloween dance, 90% of the girls were Playboy Bunnies, decked out in nothing but lingerie.

well those girls can't be attractive in person, so they try to be attractive being hot and looking like bitches, because their physic is the only thing they have... |

I'm different than I was at 14, yes, but I'm not sure my judgment vastly better. I was a rather upright, dull, "mature" 14-year-old unfortunately.
I would agree that a 14-year-old is less likely to exercise sound judgment on decisions regarding sexual relations, but I'm not of the opinion that it's possible to prevent them from making poor choices without imposing strict enough rules as to also inhibit the same personal growth and development which will lead them to being mature enough to be trusted or mature enough to have children.
I'll admit that in a utopia, children wouldn't go out and have sex before they're really ready. But we're never going to reach that utopia, so I believe we're better served trying to deal with and adapt to the problems of human imperfection than investing our efforts in an ultimately futile crusade to stalk and bully everyone younger than 18 into conformity with our utopian ideals. |

The problem is that parents arent raising kids, the TV networks and schools are.
and the Television networks know that they tapped platinum when they hit the tween market. So that isnt going to change.
I honestly dont know what to do except most people our age look at the little tween heads and say they arent going to let their kids be like that. I feel that the Gen X of our age group (the original gen X being the 80s 90s teens) are gonna have pretty decent kids, I just feel sorry for all the kids right now growing up in such an Fd environment. When the sky is the limit to what you can do...its one of those "dont get too close to the sun" ikarus things of morality.
Kids just got no responsibilities these days and its killin em!
I do kind of agree that a nationwide uniform policy (federal grants dry up if you dont conform (get it..conFORM)) would help. and itd put some of those ******s in television advertising out of business. |

| I know this is very old fashioned/conservative, but I honestly think that middle schools and high schools should go back to same sex education and uniforms. School for teenagers has become more of a social gathering rather than a place to learn, and I think it’s also part of the reason for all the bull going on with teenagers like sex at early ages, and gangs, etc.. If I ever have children, I’m going to make sure that they go to a same sex private school. That's just me though. |

i think this goes beyond dressing dirrty and more into the irresponsible unsupervised actions these teenage kids are doing .. who remembers that uk teenage girl that was talking with an american solider from iraq, and someone found out, causing the solider to be discharged. should we blame the solider for his actions, or the teenager for talking with the guy? we will never know what they were talking about, but all i know is "where are the girl's parents to supervise her chats with the guy?".. she was only 13, and supposedly, they were having many overnight conversations..
i think it is a travesty seeing the teenage culture right now.. i can't count how many pregnant teenagers i see outside right now. i saw an 18 year old girl with two children. that's bad. i would like to ask .. where are the parents?.. if they blame their lifestyle, how they are poor and have to work two jobs and everything.. but how about that precious time they have when they are home with the children?.. i say parents are not spending enough q.t. with their kids.. if you ask any kid who they see as their role model, i promise you less than 5% of them will name either one of their parents.. |
