They just farkin broke! :whip: :whip:
Literally, the left ear cup broke away from the headband. The wire to the speaker is still intact and it still plays fine.
I haven't had them yet a year; actually not even 7 months. Anyone else have similar experiences and had any luck thru Pioneer warranty? I checked Pioneers warranty page and it said 90 days on headsets - parts and labor.
The really ty thing is that I bought the Performance Gaurantee thru Guitar Center exactly for this reason. And upon calling them right after it happened, they told me that the PG doesn't cover normal wear and tear. Well, when the cup completely snaps off in less than a year I don't consider that normal wear and tear.
If anyone has a similar story and any type of resolution, please share it. I'll be really disappointed if I don't get some kind of concession, either from Guitar Center or Pioneer, no matter how small. |

That sucks, I got the performance guarantee on the same pair and I'm gonna be really pissed if something like that happens to me. When they sell it to you they say something about "even accidental damage is covered!" That can't be true because you could say that them breaking is accidental damage as well, so if normal wear and tear is that, then accidental damage couldn't be covered either and the salesman lied. :whip: |

Those are nice guides but they don't help with the problem he describes. ;) |

Sorry to say but you must have squeezed those things really good between your head and shoulder or something. I have had mine for 1 1/2 years and never had a problem at all. On average they are pumping out music to me for 4 hours or more, so they get used!!!
I would definitly raise S*&T about that warranty deal you paid for...breaking a headphone off is not normal wear and tear.
Unless you sit on them...but they don't need to know that. |

Mine broke in the exact same fashion. And this was while my girlfriend was placing them on her head. I bought my pioneers outside of Canada, so I didn't have a warranty at all to fall back on.
My solution... buy the hd280's. At least now I have a 2year warranty for when they break. |

UPDATE:
Called Pioneer today and found out I was wrong about one thing: It's not a 90 day warranty on the Pro-DJ equip but rather a One Year. So they've agreed to take a look at them and if it is found to be a manufacturer defect they will be replaced.
PLUS, went to GC today to get another copy of my sales receipt and one of the salesmen suggested I call the Performance Garauntee line again. He said that it sounded kind of odd that they didn't authorize a replacement and that he has had experiences with previous customers being auth'd replacements for similar problems. I hope he was not blowing smoke at me.
Either way, I'm hoping that this will get taken care of and I'm feeling much better about it today than last night.
Thanks for all the feedback too, guys. |

| First the Sony MDR-V700's and NOW Pioneer. , I was really looking forward to get these. My V700's are held together with Duct tape now. Sorry to hear about this. |

..and I was just about to buy myself a pair of these. :/
That's pretty disappointing, and I had heard nothing but good things about the HDJ-1000s too. :( I guess I'm going with the Sennheiser HD25s. |

Definitely DEFINITELY go with the HD25's... IMO the HDJ1000's suck for lastability, I have had 2 pairs now and both have broke. One was broken before it even got to me (gg quality control). Second broke after 6 months easy use - I take care of my equipment.
Crappy gear, but what do you expect for first generation tech... |
