The Israelis only lead the UN in violations(taken from your writing) because of the tough choices they have to make faced with a situation unlike any on the planet. It is not ok to persecute anyone for any reason, nor is it ok to terrorize them and both may be guilty.

It is not the Israeli's duty to rebuild the palestinian lands, if they want their land then they want the responsibilities that go with the land.
Forgiving applies to both sides and if the militants and Arafat forgave in the mid 90s we wouldn't be here today. Talk about being greedy, remember more than 1 time they had peace deals on the table.
Lets just say hypothetically the Israelis find the hippy spirit as you were saying and forgive and find all the love in their hearts and never attack the palestinians again. Tomorrow there is a bus bomb, followed a week later by a suicide bomber. What do they do? Just keep turning their cheek and taking it?
My solution to the problem.
Finish the wall, but finish it on the 1967 borders, not the strange path it is on now. Dismantle settlements in gaza and the west bank. The palestinians must choose a real leader this time, not a figure head, and one that won't be turning down near perfect deals. As you stated one side has to give. At this point with the wall giving them security and the palestinians having their gaza and west bank there should be nothing left for them to bitch about. If the palestinians now with their own state and borders continues to kill israelis they should be help accountable by the world. The two sides don't have to love each other, they just have to coexist. If they are a north and south korea then so be it, at least there won't be killing on both sides. |

At the end of the day, its not about whos land it belongs to. Its not about how many people one party has killed. Its REALLY about proving how 1 party has a more JUST cause than the other.

What about the war in Iraq ? Do you think Iraqies had a representation in the U.N that matters ? same for the Palastinies... nobody gives a damn, and the world today, like it or not, has come to relized that all the countries-leaders that support terrorisem, lies, cheats, deseave, are no partners, and should be deal with force.
U.S.A did it extremly brutal in Iraq, because they just don't give a .. and the world remained in silence... (Even Bush was elected once again!)
Now comes Israel, after the death of the best of our sons.. soldiers who fight for the country they live in... fighting to protect the homeland and families...
and go out to deal with the terrorists that killed us, most of the time without mistakes.
So we have from one side, Palastinies terrorists killing innocent people and soldiers. and we have Israel fighting back.
Do you see here a problem with the fighting ?
I'm not saying peace is wrong, and fighting should play the leading part in this play....
But you must look at the fact, as others before me have written them.
If you think that peace could have been achived in the days of Arafhat then either you have missed this class in school, or your a real fool. Israel came to him with open hands, offering more then he could dream of.. more then any of us believed... but still he chose the terror way... and because of that in his last year he was called "Irrelevent" "not a peace partner" and simply a pain-in-the-ass....
Now after he has passed away... I can only hope that the new Palastin gouverment could control the area and stop the fighting so we could all back to the meetings and peace confrences and...

so what is the point in demolishing a dead terrorist's home? to make their families suffer? wtf.
as i said before, malik's sig says it all. an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind... the sooner BOTH sides realise this and sort it out, the better, otherwise you will be bombing and killing each other for the rest of eternity.
and to be honest, i think the US's role as a mediator should be given up. they don't help things at all being a biased nation. someone completely neutral should come along and do it. someone miles away who had nothing to do with the conflict in the first place, and someone who has no links to any of the faiths involved. for example, china or another mainly buddhist/far eastern country. |
