Review: Fatboy Slim @ the Docks (pg. 2)

Good times!

I didn't expect much considering the promoters didn't do ANY advertising, but by the time Fatboy Slim came on it was pretty comfortably (but not disgustingly) packed. Definitely a different, more chilled out crowd, looked like lots of people with their best friends or significant others (as opposed to the solo clubbers and group massives you usually find).

Technical problems really hurt the night as stated earlier but it was worth the hype and the money - Fatboy Slim isn't just a DJ, he's an entertainer! Think Danny Tenaglia but replace the "PLUR" with "party". :p You can't argue with his skills either though - he's pretty much the only DJ who can mix so many different styles of music into a set and still make it flow. I attribute the *slight* lack of crowd energy to the fact that it was a Wednesday and people were actually sober - they were all still getting into it though.

He didn't throw down a few of the tracks I'd really hoped for, but what can ya do... probably if the equipment had been working properly he'd have stayed on longer and I would have gotten to hear them.

I think the Docks needs to put a little more effort into making sure their DJ equipment is up to par, as this is not the first time there have been problems. But all in all, I think it was pretty damn good for a weeknight! ;) Glad I went, shame on the rest of you for wimping out!

Meh, 328AM and i'm already home. Can't believe that he only spun till 2am :(.

correction- he only spun til 1:15 am! a whopping 2 hrs. I at least thought it would go til 2, maybe 3am. meh. Either way, I was hurting today. I had a few strong drinks b4 leaving the house, which were probably absorbed with the dinner I was eating at the time, and I had 2 coolers there, but I never got drunk, but boy was i hurting today! Woke up in the middle of the night in a pool of sweat too. Felt totally dehydrated most of the day. Still, I went to work on time. Somehow...

Got to the club and was told by bouncers that no cameras were allowed, contrary to what was specifically stated on Fatboy's website: to 'take pics of my N. American tour and post them to my site'. They also wouldn't let us in with a sharpie to get an autograph. Returned my items to the car, but once inside, found the 1st person on the promotion team to get that camera thing sorted out pronto. (there I go, starting a revolution again!). Within 5 mins, cameras were ok again (too bad many already got turned away), I was let out to my car, and returned with camera AND sharpie. I mean, didn't those idiot bouncers SEE that there were sharpie markers ALL OVER THE PLACE specifically for our graffiti'ing pleasure??? They had the nerve to tell us 'someone had been stabbed with one'. Yeah, and I have a bridge for sale. When going thru the search again, was asked if it was a video camera. Glad they finally got it right.

All in all, a very fun time. Wish Norm didn't have all those technical problems, but the tunes he was dropping were FUN FUN FUN! Too bad he didn't sign autographs or take pics at all with fans. Poor Graham was pissed.

Bwahahah, what was I on that night... that's one seriously weird pic!

Ah well, great pics, captured the night pretty well. Those Tribe reviews were spot on too.

I didn't see him on Wednesday night, but I sure as hell hope he does! I want to see Norman in action. Based on the tribe reviews, it seems like I would've had a damn good time & gone ape to his classic tunes (Build it UP, tear it DOWN!!) and his crowd interactions...

If he plays here on a night where I don't have big obligations early next morning, i'll definitely go. Or call in sick.
StereoPrincess
i just watched those videos.

my observation still stands.
