Meh, 328AM and i'm already home. Can't believe that he only spun till 2am :(. Good times had by all, not too crowded and the people were all nice. Nice to see Fatboy Slim spinning almost directly in the crowd, and gread crowd interaction from the man! Only complaints: Short night, no encore, busted needle on one of the decks making the record skip way too much (any is too much ;) but it happened at least five times!). Sick to hear Norman Cook through Jimi Hendrix - Crosstown Traffic, my favorite jimi tune!!!

Shouts to all the TA's and other people I saw.. old and new: Tatgirl, Irish Graham (going nuts on the dancefloor), StereoPrincess, Diginut, RabbitJoker, Bloch and Mariano. Sorry if I forgot anyone...

Lets see those pics Nat!! (Contraband camera.. w00t)

keThe odds were against the show being good due to a comedy of errors throughout the night - but I guess overall I'd have to say it turned out to be a good time.

The venue was decorated up a bit - the highlight being a white 1985 new yorker available to sign w/ a waterproof sharpie. The car looked mauled by the end of the night - but I got there early enough to get a good scrawl of my initials on the back and 2HP.ca on the front headlight. Norm got up on to the car towards the end of his set with some crazy acid 303 style track going off and signed it himself.

The opening DJ (whomever he was) did a good job of picking it up as it got closer to Fatboy's time. It's always good when the momentum builds to the headliner in a natural way - I was eased into the excitement for Fatboy to start.

Fatboy got on and tried to do some air horns - but they fizzed and wouldn't make a sound - so his entrance was pooched. No big deal, we're hear to hear tunes, not theatrics right? So off Norm went - with that whistle song (name escapes me now) off the bat.

Funny guy did his whole set with no shoes on - bare feet (plus the expected vodka + orange).

The music was solid, playing a few of the classics and some newer (although no upfront) tunes. From a music perspective - it was an ok night. I enjoyed the "walk like an Egyptian" remix and the closer "cross-town traffic" original.

What nearly killed the night was the technical problems with the DJ gear. I'm not sure what the problems were - but it was clear there was more than just a broken needle. From where I was standing the DJM-600 wasn't fading or holding levels properly, one of the turntables was acting up (needle) and the stage wasn't insulated enough to stop the bass-hop or even Norm dancing. All this caused a near calamity of skipped records, trainwreks, weird EQ , volume bursts - one could tell Norm was wrasslin' the gear and loosing at that.

Fatboy made the best of it and did his best and still pulled off a reasonable show - I wish I could have seen him with properly functioning gear - as I know it would have been a better night for him (and us).

The crowd was mixed and generally a little older (not in age, in attitude) then the typical crowd when we go out. It seemed to be more of a cocktail n' tunes night then a party night vibe. It was as if the crowd read into the tech problems early on and knew it wasn't going to be a perfect show - and acted reserved as a result. As always - the crowd doesn't really matter to me, as long as my pals are around - so this apathy didn't really effect my attitude.

Overall a good night - uber-pleasure to be with my friends (new + old) - you're all the best.

Sleep now, ja.

Yeh, Norm passed me the sharpie and I couldn't find any space, so I just jumped on the back of the car and scribbled on the roof :)

And they (Margs pointed out that there were two guys spinning on rotation... yeah you are right! :p) spun some Daft Punk - Around the World, so I was happy.. first time I remember hearing a Daft Punk record in the clubs (0o0o0o0o0o how I love Daft Punk).

The DJs spinning before Fat Boy Slim were guests "Felix and Gani (milk.)" I think (that's the names on the Emerge website).

The show was good, I missed class this morning and I woke up still buzzed (drunk not the other buzzed) on the couch at 8 in the morning.

Norman was a very good interactive DJ. He spun some classics. I was disappointed that he didn't spin longer but ce la vie. I mean I wasn't done my drink and he was done. That was weird.

That was a great show...

bleh to the technical problems the music was still great. and bleh to this guy in a red shirt and white hat who was way to drunk and was being a nuissance.

IMO, the crowd could have done a better job at trying to get an encore.

I think i was standing besides the lot of you for the better part of the show, right at the front, just to the right of center. don't know why i didn't ask to see if you were indeed ta. oh well.

i was suprized that the place didn't get packed... there was room to move around.. i wasn't expecting that.

but alas, fatboy rules, great showmanship and great music.
