Im pretty sure they had b-52s in WWII.
Take for instance the Memphis Belle -- I believe that was a B-52 -- EDIT: okay, so it was a B-17

i think the b-52 came in 1952, b/c the soviets had copied the american b-29 super flying fortress, and now the soviets had their own 4 engine heavy bomber. so the americans stepped it up and developed the new b-52 with the new jet engines, and we've been using them ever since.

Nice Post :) Both of my Grandfather faught in WW2.

My Grandpa Murphy laned on Normandy Beach on D Day and was shot in the leg sometime being in France. A French family found him and nursed him back to health. He earned a Purple Heart. He had pictures from the concetration camps and Mussolini's hanging as well as his girlfriend. He only spoke about the war when we asked him. He died in 2001.

My Grandpa Eberhard was in the Pacific fighting the war there. I do not know much unfornately because he passed away 8 years before I was born. My family doesn't like to talk much either about him I have asked and I get very little :(

In the town that I live in here in the suburbs of Atlanta called Duluth. They put up a cross, star of david, or whatever with an American Flag. They will put these up at Memorial Day and Veterans Day. We have crosses and flags for my Grandfathers.

Bless all the men and women that were part of the armed forces everywhere in the world. You are the ones that protect us :)

here is a picture of what they do:

Nice pictures and posts. I find it rare that veterans openly talk about the war. Even with Vietnam, some veterans are so silent about it. But i dont blame them, it was a hard time and I dont think they want to live through it again..

My roommate and I got his grandfather to talk about the war. His job on D-Day was to pull the landing craft to the beach and secure them while the other soldiers piled out. He was very emotional when talking about it, and he told us more stories, like how he tried to enlist with his friends, stuff they did in basic, and of course he told us about D-Day.

We were silent the entire time, just listening to what he had to go through. With tears streaming down his face he said that he he doesn't like talking about this, it was a dark time for humanity, but each person had to go and do the best they could for their country.

Later on my roommates dad said that that was the first time he ever heard his dad talk about the war like that....

One of my grandads was an engineer in the Royal airforce during WW2 at the Commonwealth flying school. he saved a canadian pilots life by dragging him from the burning wreckage of his plane. But got kicked out the RAF for it because "You had to let the emergency servicess deal with it and not risk your life"....stupid rules.
Other grandad was in the famous "Desert Rats" or the british 8th infantry. He fought in North africa and Italy.
my great grandad fought in the Boer war, he looked after General Schwarz (leader of the Boers) once he was captured.

My Mums dad was a nurse in hospitals in world war two, my mums mum met my mums dad in the hospital

My Dads dad was in the military somewhere in the UK, my dads mum (and HER dad) were Hitler Jews, and escaped Germany in 1938 just before it all kicked off.

Her dad decided wandering around world war 2 britain with a very German sounding surname wasn't a brilliant plan, so he changed their name to a street name that he saw in scotland where their ferry docked.

So my surname is named after a street in scotland :P

found most of this out after seeing saving private ryan, and thinking "......fcuk"

My grandpa was a gunner in a b-17 liberator. Good man.
