i was gonna use Kr00t as an example of the other end of the scale that Chris (dstrukt) was at.
It is here, that i reiterate my previous point of moderation. As some people have mentioned, caining it really hard, i.e every weekend has not been beneficial to their minds and mindset. But this would be the case with almost any sort or recreational drug. It is only because MDMA is so neurologically focussed (i.e its direct effects on mood), in that it seems to be more damaging.
I have only been doing pills since GKGG '03 and have dabbled with other stuff this year (LSD and coke) and not once have i ever felt the need to take more than is "necessary" IT is the same with alcohol...once i get to a certain point, i don't feel the need to drink more, because i know that if i do, i will actually feel worse, and thus i won't enjoy the rest of the night. The most pills i've ever done in a night was 4. If i go out to a club or a party, i will usually only do 2-3 max. Fortunately for me, as good nights in london are once a month, that would usually be the most i do a month :p I have only, on one occaision, done pills for 2 days in a row (GC weekender 29-29th november 2003) I suppose that with my intuition of finding out the information about mdma beforehand, including other peoples experiences and my pharmacological knowledge, are the key reasons as to why i rigidly inforce moderation.
And also like kr00t, my mind is wired in such a way that i don't get comedowns. It would also be true that people with certain mindsets will NOT react well to drugs. People who are depressed, have been known to get paranoid and people with long term mental problems...i would not recommend people with these sortsa things to partake in MDMA. |

the one time the tsn lot congregate on ukta since the disappearance of the random thread...
it seems that most ppl i kno go thru a honeymoon phase with pills and just cane it like crazy for awhile...and then moderating it. oddly enuf, i've never went thru that phase where i was so in love with e and wanted to do it every wknd. my first time ever must have been the summer of 2001 at a friend's e-party...but since then i can say that i've done less than 20 in total. it's not that i dun enjoy it, because i do, but i'm picky about who i'm doing it with and where. i always club sober cuz the music's good enuf for me and i dun wanna be on a drug-induced high in an environment like that. it just doesn't appeal to me.
having said that tho, even tho i haven't done a huge quantity, i still do get comedowns. its not everytime, and some are worse than others of course. however, this may be due to my personality becuz more often than not, i'm depressed or pissy. i've noticed that it seems that ppl who are generally happier/optimistic, get comedowns less often compared to the depressive, moody ******s out there like myself. i dunno how true this is...but its just wut i've observed.
try mdma if you want, cuz i dun think any of us who have tried it regret it. just be careful how much you do, how well you take care of yourself, where ur stuff is coming from etc etc. in other words, party hard...but party safe. |

i suppose i have been quite lucky in the sense that all my friends and work colleagues have been okay with me when i told them what i do.
as for how it affects me, i think i have become a better, more outgoing person, dont know what other people think, i'm actually trying to find that out now, lol. I'm grilling a friend (non drug user) about it as i'm typing this.
And as for the drinking and smoking vs pills thing, a few things to say...
I watched my dad die from emphysema (sp?), which i think is disease of the lungs caused by smoking (feel free to correct me medical people), its horrible seeing someone get up to make a cup of tea, and then hearing them wheezing and coughing by the time they get to the kitchen because they are out of breath, which is a side effect of the disease. Now i dont know what happens to people as a side effect of long term ecstasy usage, so cant really compare the two, but i wont even buy people cigarettes now if i go into a shop, beacuase of that.
I used to drink quite heavily, and get evil bastard hangovers, when i started using E, i slowed the drinking down, and now i hardly drink at all, i might have one vodka red bull when i go out. Why? for me, the high from E is much better than the high from drunkenness, and a comedown for me when i get them is generally better than a hangover. Most of the time i just feel really tired, which is probably a result of staying awake for 40 odd hours rather than a side effect from pills.
If you are going to take them, be around people who are taking them too, i would not advise to do it on your own, as someone else suggested, but thats just me, and also, as everyone else says, do it in moderation, dont feel under pressure form people who are doing more than you, dont feel that you need to keep up with them, everyone has different tolerances. Do your own research into it and take your own info about it, rather than just listening to what we are saying.
I know it can be harder to do than to say, but seriously, tell your friends to right off, if they are that close minded, they really are not worth having as friends, there are plenty of people out there that are friendly enough, you dont need these people preventing you doing what you want to do.
sorry about the rant BTW, i'll shut up now, lol:) |

possibilities of long term MDMA or amphetamine usage are as follows
Possibilities being the key word as there are no long term studies or results on this sort of experiment...we are guinea pigs if you may :nervous:
There may be possibilities of depressive illness due to seratonin synapse downregulation. This will be a form of tolerance of some kind.It may also be due to the reactive effects of MDMA in the brain (free radicals) leading to brain degeneration...HOWEVER none of this is proved, it is merely a form of logic. The bodies regeneration and adaptation abilities are stupendous.
As seratonin plays a role in learning in memory (as does dopamine to some extent) there may be possibilities of memory and learning dysfunction. I do not believe that Alzeihmers disease will manifest itself in the older long term users, as the pathology of this disease has nothing to do with seratonin synapses in the brain. But as mentioned above with the learning and memory, the symptonms of this will be similar to the symptoms of Alzeihmers, which is where an incorrect comparison will take place...no doubt by the media of the country.
With amphetamine usage, there may well be an increased risk of schizophrenia and parkinson's disease due to the effects of the drug on our dopamine systems. This system is HELLA complicated, but consider that experiments in the 60's showed that people who binged on speed resulted in psychosis... |

| been in temporary psychosis a couple of times, as a result of doing base. sleep is impossible, as is being awake, its horrible. |

| also remembered that many antidepressents have anxiolytic (anti anxiety) effects, so the link between his ecstasy usage and his current anxiety problems is another one to consider. |

Yeah, sorry I'm gonna agree with you there in spite of what I originally posted - when I've done them alone in the past it has been while chatting on the net. So, at least have that. |

| Yeah Ive never popped alone, but I can never imagine doing it... part of the fun is being around people who are experiencing what you're feeling at that moment...especially if its the first time, cuz you WILL get the urge to tell people how good it is, how its nothing like you've experienced before, and that it exceeds any expectations you previously had |

Haha, very true :) ...my first time was at global gathering this year with about 15-20 friends and it was absolutely perfect. Even ended up trying to talk other people into trying it for the first time, haha.. probably not the wisest move but hey :D ... that was the best night of my life that night.
The only time a comedown as ever hit me hard was after that first time... I remember being very confused when waking up the next morning after getting small periods of sleep, not knowing where I was or what was going on for a minute or so, very weird. Didn't last long though... but then a few days later I got into a massive row with my parents (about something else entirely), which left me upset, angry and depressed, and I found it alot harder to recover than I normally would have. I started to regret taking it and thought that i'd ed my life up. By the next weekend though I'd come round and realised that all that was probably just down to my serotonin levels not being quite back to normal. I've been fine all the times since then... just been in a bit of a grouchy mood at the worst of times :)
Definitely all for it... i can only see myself doing it single-figure times in the next 12 months though, keeping it for special occasions. |

I did them on my own once was a pretty strange experience. I just sat there listening to tunes all night and cuz there was no one to speak to i wrote myself a log on notepad! Still have it somewhere, it was pretty funny to read back from. But i def wouldnt recommend that first time like! |
