ok, ive been thinking about this the last couple of days & since this is an open forum i figured id ask all of you what you think of this...
so this past sunday at around 4.30pm im @ the shop (release) and i hear a knock on the door. we were already closed and ive been  . i walk up and see TA's itikia.
here is basically what was said:
Ari: Richard?!...Im Ari, ive got orkidea with me...what time do you close at?
Me: 4pm dude...
Ari: are you willing to make an exception?
Me: No dude...sorry, i cant + im too stoned!
Ari: (looks at me as though im turing down christ) (this could be because i was stoned but this is the vibe i was getting)
Ari: Ok dude, its ok...dont worry!
Me: ok man, sorry about that...bye!
Ari: bye

I guess it's store policy though, to not let anyone in after 4...
It really is a tough call I suppose. |

well, its not really "store policy", i mean i "could" have let him in but i wasnt in the mood. i was tired & too high. |

I've only been in there once before, and I didn't even realize it. My buddy from Winnipeg was down in the summer of 2003, and he spins DnB out there, and wanted some new vinyl, so we made the 1 hr trek to Toronto, simply to go to Release. |

Tough call... If you were feeling out of it and weren't prepared for after-hours guests, then it was totally at your discretion.
Personally, I would've downed a coke or grabbed a cigarette to perk up a bit and let 'em in... but that's just me, can't vouch for your state of mind at the time :) |

ya i was feeling out of it. this is why i declined. if things were different then sure i would have gladly opened the doors to Ari & Orkidea :) |

You had the right to refuse for sure, but I think I would have mentioned something to the effect that normally you would but you're a little under the weather (or something like that).
That way they know:
a) you do appreciate their business and
b) they'd respect the fact that you're not feeling up to par at the time without a straight, "No" for an answer.

I would have done the same as what you did, closing time is closing time.
u just lost out on some business $$, I am sure Ari & Orkidea both understand.

but you should keep the smokin on the down low, not informing everyone, u may get knockin' at the shops door after closing hours, know that you are S>tONEd! <-- that should be a semi private thing u r up too - - - in my opinion.:happy2: |
