Truth, its a positive feedback loop, sort of like labor for women.
People started getting tips, owners lowered wages, now servers started crying, more people started tipping, owners lowered wages again, more crying, etc |
I never tip for BAD service and then i get even worse lookds from the person who provided the bad service. Next time dont be incompetent. However i do tip well when the service is good.
My scale of tipping ---
zero for horrendous service
10-15% for average service
20-25% or more for outstanding service
i average 15% at the end of the day, i just distribute it differently. |

Servers are paid 6$ an hour !!! Everyone should tip, unless you have a terrible waitress, that is an exception. And 15% at least. I was a server all summer, there is nothing worse then ty tippers, especially when you know they were very happy with the service !!!
Omg crazedcanuck, that sucks !! Nobody has jetted on me yet without paying the bill, but I would freak out if they did. |
at the end of a club night, the average bartender makes aroudn $300-$400 (or in certain places more) only out of tips.....
now... i dont think a few people not tipping should make them cranky....
meanwhile the part time employee that works in a grocery store makes minimum wage with no tips ,even if they carry groceries for old ladies to their cars(yea i couldnt accept a tip once cos i would be fired if i did..w.as being watched), wroks his ass off carying heavy boxes, gets cuts and bruises etc etc etc. and at the end of the shift, after union deductions + all the little taxes comes out wiht only around 50 bucks
now lets see $50 vs. $300...hmmmm |

tipping bartenders is the stupidest idea ever.
$1 to pop the cap off my beer? Give me a break! |

yeah because hes lifting heavy bags and doing some real work for it.
But the bartender thing. Dont tell me bartenders work harder than some guy serving a burger during a lunch rush at mcdonalds. They dont deserve tips. They deserve $10 an hour. |

A friend of mine drives a tow truck, so i had him drop by this morning and take the car to the bottom of Jones and leave it infront of a fire-hydrant.
:p |
Awesome!
But I think it would have been much better to go to her apartment, introduce yourself, and hit it. |
