Damn smoke detector

Some of you create some pretty strange threads sometimes so it's my turn now. My smoke detector in my bedroom is beeping. It's obvious the batteries need to be changed. Not a big deal if I could reach the damn thing. I have vaulted ceilings and there is simply no way in hell that I can reach it...not even with a ladder (which I don't have anyways). :mad: So it is night time and this freakin thing is beeping and it's in my damn bedroom of all places. I am in another room and I can still hear it. How long do you guys think this damn thing will beep before it dies? Hours? Days? :( Why the hell would a builder put a smoke detector at the highest point in my ceiling? :rolleyes:
No sleep for me tonight. :sadgreen:

a: i wouldnt call this thread strange when comparing with others
b: if that happened to me and bother me too much, i'd take something (an old useless book for example) and smash the detector |

It's too high up and knowing my luck the damn thing would start to go off or I would damage the wall. |

Maybe to make sure you changed the battery when it started to die? :p
Hate to have to be the one to tell you, but this happened in my house last year, and all 4 of us were too laxy to change the damn thing. It beeped for about 5-6 days before I finally got frustrated and put a battery in. About that time, the beep was a bit weak, so im guessing it might last a week. |

My point is that they could have it put it at a lower point in the ceiling so that someone could easily reach it with a ladder.
Great...a week of torture or beg someone to come here and change it for me. :p |

Are you short? How vaulted is vaulted? 20ft? 30? If worse comes to worst, get a long stick, pop the button that holds it closed and swat the battery out. This should do the trick, evn if it beeps a few times after.... |
