Violence against women is not funny.

same damn thing happened to me. the thing beeped for days. eventually i just got up on a chair, with a pillow on it cause it was so high, and punched it out of frustration, but obviously that didnt work. those things are indistructable. i had to unwire it from the base, and i threw the batteries out. then i threw the things on the floor, and went back to bed. seconds later, the things beeps again, and again.. and one more time, and so, i go to my fridge take a damn battery out and put it in the detector, and then and only then did it shut up. to this day it remains under my bed, i havnt put it back up.

My point is that they could have it put it at a lower point in the ceiling so that someone could easily reach it with a ladder.

Great...a week of torture or beg someone to come here and change it for me. :p

I LOVE ceilings like that, but you may need to rent scaffolding or something.

....or ask a male friend to do it. See, we do have a purpose! :thepirate

I love vaulted ceilings too! :D

Thankfully the noise has stopped. Hopefully it won't start back up again in the middle of the night.

How about using a broom or something to try and knock it out of place? (while standing on a chair)

**edit**

nvm i just realised it's over. Oh well, never know, might start up again! :D

Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but if it stopped and the light is still on there's a fairly good chance it will start again soon... and could potentially last very, very long.

Some family of mine had a similar problem and it took a tall person with a ladder and a hockey stick to finally knock the damn thing down and it did cause some minor damage.

even if it does stop that means your detector doesnt work you could die in ur sleep if there's fire. maybe you should just get the landlord to replace the battery or is that too complicated?

smoke rises so alarms are put highest spot. you could locate it under your bed but you'd probably be dead by the time it went off
