He's talking about the Book by Frank Herbert, not the movie.

You mean that a film that came out in 1977 is somehow a ripoff of a film that came out in 1984? Hmmm...elaborate please.

p.s. I realize that IMDB claims that there was some form of Dune movie in 1973, but evidence of such seems inconclusive. Furthermore, I'm sure the Dune you are speaking of is the Dune of 1984 with Kyle McLaughlin. More Deep!

The film you are refering to is a pretty e film of a book called Dune (which was written before Star Wars and follows a similar theme

What about DOUGLAS ADAMS????

The whole dune series is really great and I am not a huge sci-fi reader. I think the only sci-fi books I have read are:
2001
2010
Ender's Game
The Dune series (all of the ones written by Frank Herburt, none of the newer ones by his son)
Douglas Adams' "trilogy" (in five parts)

Douglas Adams is really quality stuff, though not sure if he belongs in the 1984/Brave New World category :D

PS - Brave New World was the best book I had to read in high school :)
