so, I mean like spoiled. Do you get alot of clothes, movies, pc, tv, ps2, a big allowance for not doing and stuff like that?
Some of my friend acts like if I get clothes from my parents, then I'm spoiled, in fact, I want to kick them in the nuts when they say that.
Take this summer, I was VERY lucky, a dad to a friend of mine asked me if I wanted a job. like fixing things at schools, painting, and similar things to those. I worked 7,5 hours each day, 6 weeks out of8 weeks. I had to get up 06am everyday, (exept sat-sun-day) and I finished work 15,15pm. Those were good money |

Take this example:
I got some "Level gore tex gloves" from my dad, they cost 130$ people call me spoiled for that, geez
And this girl wants me to say what my jacket costed me, that would be my parents :D |

I wouldn't worry about what other people are saying - it's just material stuff, and you don't really act "spoiled", especially considering the fact that you're worried about what other people think about you. I think a truly spoiled person wouldn't be so self-conscious of their social status because they would naturally think that they were at the top.
Just because you have nice things and eat well doesn't necessarily mean that you don't deserve it, either. As long as you are grateful to your loved ones for what they have provided you, and you can appreciate the fact that your parents have totally changed their lifestyle, selflessly, to fit with your being, there is no real issue here. ;) |

| Well, you're still kinda young to truly appreciate how blessed you are. You might think that you're poor, but you're not. :stongue: ;) |

I pay for everything that I own, all my schooling, food and rent by myself.
I guess I'm spoiled in the fact that I have the opportunity to receive a wonderful education from a great university, and that I live in the United States where I have my own rights and freedoms (for now), but monetarily I am anything but spoiled. |

Yes. I am pretty spoiled. To be honest I pay for next to nothing. I went to public school from the age of 4, went on pretty amazing vacations all the way up to the age of 18, nice cars, nice houses. My parents bought my car, pay for insurance and petrol and now I'm at Uni they pay all my rent, tuition, cellphone bill, credit card bills and socialising money. I am also pretty lucky that my parents are sympathetic to the fact my girlfriend lives 5000 miles away and they pay to fly me in business class as long as I pay the first $800 (price of a coach fare). That comes from a Dad who spent a lot of time on the road and understands that flying coach sucks ass. Although I am pretty sure my parents would stop subsidising all my travel and non-necessary expenses should I stop working full time in vacations. They believe money I earn now should go towards saving for the future and that people who work (paid work) their asses off at Uni are less likely to do well.
However, at my school (high school) we had some seriously rich guys. It puts it in perspective when you have 18yr olds who give brand new Porsche 911s to their friends because there isn't enough room in their Kensington property to keep all their cars. These guys were from Thailand and bafflingly rich. The guy in my year and his 21yr old brother spent $35m on cars in 4yrs! They had their own Boeing business jet for travels around Europe
Yet they were so generous with it. When we graduated he took us all out and paid for I think $3000 of drinks, the afforementioned Porsche 911 was brand new with 0 miles and he paid all the petrol and insurance for a friend to drive it around and keep it safe. He did the same thing with a new Merc CLK430! And for his 18th birthday he spend almost $200,000 buying out the First Class cabin on a BA flight to Bangkok so his friends could be there! So was he spoiled, well yes, but he wasn't a about it and was extremely humble and was going to University to do an engineering degree when it was quite clear he could sit on his ass and do nothing..... |

Spoiled? Me? NNaaaa I dont think I am.
When I was growing up I was....but i started to understand the value of a dollar pretty soon. Im the type of kid that wants to do better than his father and eventually make a little more than him.
You know...could be a cultural thing, but i think every generation under should attempt to honor the one before.
Anywayz, i had body guards, maids, drivers, and gardeners as a kid. I went to private school all of my life. Living in 3rd world countries rocked the hizzy for me.
But id like to make it all up and be financially independent.
i still think i might be a tad spoiled tho.....just not enough to be a penis about it. |
Was your dad a diplomat by any chance? :D :tongue2
**edit**
i ask that because your lifestyle sounds very much like mine, private schooling, maids, gardeners, cooks, etc. I lived in loads of 3rd World countries and loved it :D |
