I don't think I would ever try dog meat, then again, living on the border and eating at some of the taco stands that I have been to, dog meat might very well have been in them. I would voluntarily try cat on the other-hand. I hate those ing things. |

Is there any food (or drink) you'd like to try but you never had the opportunity to?
- I've never had Nam, which seems to be a Thai bread (according to my girlfriend). Bread is always often good so I'd like to try.
- I've never had Ginger Ale either, and the thought of drinking something made out of ginger makes me curious. The same goes for "Vanilla Pepsi" or whatever Vanilla-flavoured drinks exist.
And you?

This is a very interesting thread. You have never had Tacos? That is mind blowing, but I guess that just goes to show you the differences on TA.
As for these foods, I think you mean Naan which is an Indian (from India) bread that is delicious.
And ginger ale is spicy just like you think and it does for sure taste like ginger (as opposed to what was said previously by someone). It is good and Canada makes the best one.
As for a food that I would like to try include snails, various cheeses and desserts from every country.
Mostly Japanese food is very different and interesting. |

Ginger Ale is good although it isn't for everyone. They even have Cranberry flavored Ginger Ale which I have taken a liking too. When I was younger my mother would give me Ginger Ale if I had an upset stomach because it always seemed to calm it. :thepirate |

kimchi is an aquired taste hehehe. it's hot and the cabbage is what will make most people not like it. However, if you like hot stuff and can stand cabbage...you might like it. It was definitely something that had to grow on me with time. |
I know why you've had that. ;)

could be a difference in taste buds, but Ginger Ale is definitely not spicy to me! although, i tend to like really spicy foods so maybe it just seems more bland to me. it's still good but it's just like any other sweet soda.
trancebrat, my mom always gave me Ginger Ale when i was sick too. :)
here's a funny little article on Ginger Ale / Ginger Beer that i found...
| quote: | I recently bought some Seagram's ginger ale. The ingredients listed were, "Carbonated water, high fructose syrup and or sugar, citric acid, sodium benzoate (Preservative), caramel color and natural flavors." Nowhere in the ingredients does it list ginger, except in the name of the product. A bottle of ginger ale doesn't even list ginger as an ingredient unless that is the natural flavors. What the heck is natural flavors anyway? Anything can be a natural flavor. Water is a natural flavor, unless you live in Los Angeles. L. A. water has a most unnatural flavor...
The Webster's New World Dictionary describes ginger ale as, "A carbonated, sweet soft drink flavored with ginger." The same dictionary describes ale as,
"A fermented drink made from malt and hops, like beer, but produced by rapid fermentation at a relatively high temperature." There is no mention of brewing on the ginger ale label. There is no mention of malt and hops unless that is the so-called "natural flavors" listed. We know this is not so. There is no ale in ginger ale and there is no ginger in ginger ale. So what the heck is ginger ale? A carbonated drink that is neither ginger nor ale as the name implies. If there was truth in labeling it would be called Ginger Flavored Soda...
For a real ginger beverage one must drink ginger beer. Ginger beer is usually nonalcoholic. I purchased some ginger beer to find out what a real ginger drink tastes like. I had drank it a few years ago added to a regular beer. I bought "Reed's Extra Ginger Brew All Natural Jamaican Style Ginger Beer" to taste the difference between it and ginger ale. The label of Reed's Ginger Beer stated," Freshly brewed from: sparkling filtered water (sweetened by a blend of fructose, pineapple juice from concentrate and honey), fresh ginger root, lemon and lime juices from concentrate and spices. No sugar, no preservatives and no artificial anything"...
My trusty dictionary defines fructose as, "A crystalline sugar, found in sweet fruits and in honey; fruit sugar; levulose." So "No sugar" is not really correct but since they actually use ginger root in the ingredients I won't dwell on the "No sugar."...
I tasted "Reed's Extra Ginger Brew All Natural Jamaican Style Ginger Beer" with anticipation. It was tangy, spicy with real zip. My dictionary defines zip as, "Energy; vigor; vim." This was a true ginger drink not like that false advertised ginger ale sold in supermarkets. Ginger ale is to ginger beer, as orange soda is to orange juice. I opened a beer and poured both into a glass. This was a wonderful experience. The Ginger beer was a nice touch to my regular beer. I have found that if you drink enough ginger beer/beer mix, you don't even care what is in ginger ale... |
