The Kremlin's view is indeed that Ukraine belongs to Russia's sphere of influence. I see Ukraine's situation quite same, in relation to Russia, than of that of Finland about 85 years ago. What I mean is that while Ukraine/The Ukrainian Government is still stongly under the influence of Russia, the people is turning towards West. After all Russia isnt't a model to anyone nowadays...
I'm hoping that Ukrainian people prevails and democracy triumphs in Kiev, soon. |

| I was reading about this earlier today. I would like to see some media coverage on the event. From what I can understand, it certainly sounds like there are some shinanigans at work. |

| Does not matter who wins this? Things will not look up and scumbags in government will still pack their bank accounts from the treasury, while average people will get a stick up their ass. That is a primary reason why I moved out. |

I talked to a Ukranian earlier this year, and from what I gathered you are (unfortunately) right. The entire state apparatus is saturated with corrupt people and the sheer size of the task prevents anyone from fighting the status quo. I think we'll see Turkey in the EU before Ukraine.
Anyway, at least the election repercussions have been non-violent so far. Hope it stays that way. |
