If you're just in NA MaBell has a US roaming deal that gives you Canada rates (local and LD) while in the USA. I think it is $40 / month.

Good choice RJ,
Your taking mobile communications to the highest level.
That device is amazing. Ill see if i can get you some games/midis.

Will you be using it with an exchange server at work of with BWC??

The plan is to use it with Exchange 2003 combined with Blackberry Enterprise Server 3.6.

My office doesn't run Exchange - so I've found a 3rd party provider that provides exchange and BES - which is what I'll use so that I have better usage of applications.

The above is based on not actually having the device yet - nor playing with Rogers' network setup once I do.

I like Bell Mobility thus far, its been about a year now. Kyocera SE47 Slider, I love this damn phone.

"How the hell do you open this thing?" is something I hear routinely.

Fido does all my connections!

I would say FIDO!

Yea, their roaming plan is truly great  In Niagara Falls (Canadian side), if you make a phone call, it's billed as "US Roaming". Ah well, I guess nobody's perfect. Other than that though, Fido is really good. If you really use the phone a lot, check out CityFido.

If they are a direct customer from RIM they should have 4.0 by now.
When you sign up ask them to be on a 4.0 BES. You will get allot more functionality out of it such as OTAFM and OTA contact sync (ota = over the air).

you should be able to manually force ur phone to connect to only the FIDO or Rogers networks when ur in border areas. Either that or call them to disable international roaming for the time being unless you really cross the border. I've heard the same thing happen to Telus and Bell users who have accidentally roamed on Verizon when placing call in Windsor .. sometimes there's no way to control how your phone connects to the signal unless you tweak it

oks .. i'm gonna state my FIDO bias here, only because i truly think this is a great plan that they're offering right now:

you can also roam on the Rogers 850/1900 Mhz GSM network for FREE right now till Jan 11, 2005, after that it's $5/month (only worth it if you travel frequently out of Toronto)

- billing by the second !
- remember to PM me if you sign up so that we can use the referral program and both get a $20 credit on our bill :D
- also if u do sign up, i have a hookup on an additional $50 off on all phones (unless it's already 'free' under a contract, if so u get a free DVD player) & also receive a free car charger, case, lanyard, and data cable

/end shameless promotion

Hit your local radio shack and sign up with Rogers for a corporate plan.

this 'corporate' plan is not really corporate since practically anyone can get it! the fact that it's not even advertised on their site is kinda ghey .. but it's still a decent plan nonetheless..
