Fido is a CLEC so they are entitled to LNP.
Also - FYI - since Fido is a CLEC you can also change your long distance provider on the CityFido service. |

Stick with Fido or Telus.
Mercure can't even get through to the Bell CSR, and rogers are a bunch of disgruntled little bastards!!!!!!
Sorry, I really hate them.... |

I'm with Telus and I have a Samsung....I have no issues...Telus has great service compared to others IMO////I have great signal strength and calls are clear |

I don't know why Telus gets no love. Even with my old-skool Motorola V phone with the antenna broken off and their tiest pay-and-talk plan, I hardly ever have problems. I know at least 5 people with Telus, and the same phone with the broken-off antenna, who have never even thought about switching because there are almost never any problems. I get coverage almost anywhere, and once I let the 2-month period lapse without buying more time and lost all of the prepaid time, and after bitching at their CSR for a few minutes they gave it back to me!
Last time I had a plan with Bell, my phone didn't work indoors ANYWHERE, it got about 3 minutes of battery talk time, and they tried to keep billing me after I cancelled the service.
Rogers' quality of service is utter and their CSR is difficult. But if you think Rogers is bad, Bell is even worse - you can't even find a human to talk to at that company anymore, you'll just get routed through 10 machines - and if you do find a human, they'll talk to you for 2 seconds and then pass you onto another machine which HANGS UP ON YOU. And I know at least 3 people who have told me this story!
Telus > Rogers > Bell. I don't really know much about Fido other than their coverage is pretty sporadic - since I was in Kingston for 3 years I never investigated them because they had zero coverage in that area.
Telus' rates are just fine too - $25 for 200 minutes + voicemail/call waiting/text messages. Unless you're using it as a business phone, what more do you need? |

Oh and re: smartphones (or "PDA phones"), up until yesterday I was really committed to getting one but after reading a load of reviews I have determined that they all seem to have major problems. I'd say wait another year or so for the technology to mature before wasting your time on one of those. Blackberries are a little different, they're not really marketed as PDAs and as such don't have PDA functions like a stylus or an IR port (they're more like combination cellphones/pagers), but they've been around longer so they're pretty reliable.
What I'm thinking about doing is getting that Morola V600 with bluetooth and a PDA with bluetooth, that way if I ever need internet on my PDA and there's no 802.11 network around, I can get it. Only problem is, bluetooth phones have a lot of security issues right now - Motorola seems to be committed to fixing theirs, unlike the other companies, but they're still working on it. |

+1 for Telus.
I've *never* had problems with any of the wireless providers I've had in my life, and I've had a cellular telephone since 1996 (Cantel). After that, I switched to Clearnet, with the original Sony block phone. Even living in Kitchener at the time, I rarely (if ever) had any issues with signal strength, dropped calls, or any reason to use their customer service, except to change my address when I moved.
So, Telus gets my vote. |

Bell's been decent for me. Since my work requires me to go to middle of butt, nowhere once in a while, I get reception in most of those areas so I'm happy with that.
Plus I'm on a corporate plan. 20 bucks a month and I don't use my cell much so all around decent deal for me. |

| i got ROgers, and i pay 20$ for the plan, 6.95 for the usuage charge and like 1$ or something for 911, 150 daytime and unlimited evenings and weekends free, and when i go outta town, i don't pay long distance for calling the city that i'm in. my bill is like 32$/month as long as i don't go over my daytime mins, or i get raped, like 25c a min. |
