Creating Record Label - Key Points
View this Thread in Original format
Rijs
I'm interested in creating a record label within the UK once I've finished my degree, however, I've only a vague idea on how to go about doing so.

If there's anyone who has greater knowledge on the subject, please share.

Yeah, speak to GeorgeKendall. Learn how to sign a track and then cease all communication with the artist. Woo!

I think I'll give contacting George a miss, considering what MaRt has said, as I'm all for good business practice.

Anyone else have any sort of experience in this field?

theres the guy off mpfspromotions i think that occasionaly visits here .. whose name i forget ..

regardless of whether george didnt speak to the artist after signing the tunes he has first hand experience of all the processes needed to get a label off the ground and so is well worth a talk to. (thats if he can be arsed :p)

Fair enough, I'll keep him in mind.

Also, thank you kr00t0n.

Rijs: Along with three partners, I run an independent UK trance label, having started it from scratch 18 months ago. We've had a fair amount of success although, in hindsight, there's a few things we might've done differently. I'm happy to offer some advice & feedback if it helps - PM me or email at [email protected].
