AWEEESOME!!! I love going out for G&D. SO far the last three outtings for them have been amazingly fun. Basically it was a promotion of their cd and some.(which I picked up when it was first release. Amazing dual cd to pickup.)

Tons of fun, the crowd was actually really good compared to most of the gossip and reviews I've heard about Spirit. Wasn't overly crowded.

Hats off to G&D!!! Reaction with the crowd was awesome.

Hope someone has a tracklist of last night! Including ATRC.

I was looking for a few TAs but I don't know anyone by face so it was kinda hard to just ask people. So I met a few people, one kid was from Amsterdam.

great night..
the club wasn't too packed or too hot which is always good. A bit of a mixing mishap with ATRC, but the rest was pretty smooth :)
for those that doubted their mixing skills in the last thread, if you went last night, you'd know i was right :D
wicked set guys, keep pounding the floors.. crowd was goin nuts ;)

some tunes played:
Fatboy Slim - Star 69 (? rmx)
Way Out West - Killa
Beber and Tamara - Travelling on (G/D campfire mix)
Above & Beyond - No one on earth (g/d mix)
Lili Hayden - Anything (G/D Code 313 dub)
Guy Gerber - Stoppage Time
Andain - Beautiful Things (? rmx)
Josh Gabriel - Alive

me and drew didnt even get in..there were two separate lines..and at first when we walked onto the reduced admission/18+ line they didnt say shiet about what we were wearing (hoodies, tshirts, sneakers) which was surprising...but then when we finally did get on the COMP line, they let me pass but to Drew they were like, "oh you need a collared shirt" (he hadnt wanted to wear a coat, which would have covered up his tshirt -- damns we should have learned from what happened to joe's friend at crobar for sander -=P). so i was kinda pissed and really bummed cuz i really wanted to go to G&D ...but Spirit fukin SUCKS ASS!!!! :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip:

I thought the crowd was rather weak... a few too many guidos for my liking, and the girls were rather trashy looking (true to the rumors i've heard). However, it was free before midnight (they honored the Clubplanet comp guestlist), G&D were there, so I went to check it out. I don't know how many TAs were in attendance as I am new to posting here.

Overall, G&D played a decent set (I would rate it a 7 out of 10). Jason Jollins played a very good progressive house set from 11 - 1, and then G&D came on and played from 1 to about 4:30. They had the usual setup with Josh Gabriel closely manning the Apple Powerbook G5 laptop. I didn't get up there to see up close but I think he was using Ableton Live or Logic Audio on the G5. The track selection and mixing were very good, despite all the comments i've read about their lack of skills performing live. I really think they've improved on this in the past year.

Anyway, here are some tracks i remember hearing (not necessarily in this order)... there were a lot more i couldn't ID or just forgot. My short term memory sucks.

Gabriel & Dresden @ Spirit 11/26/2004

Rachel Starr - Till There Was You (Gabriel & Dresden mix) <--- Amazing, the lead in to this must have been 5 minutes.
Lili Haydn - Anything (Gabriel & Dresden dub mix)
Gabriel & Dresden - Portobello <-- the guidos really liked this one for some reason
Annie Lennox - A Thousand Beautiful Things (Gabriel & Dresden Mix)
Motorcycle - Around You
Josh Gabriel - Alive
Alter Ego - Rocker
Guy Gerber - Stoppage Time
Above & Beyond - No One On Earth (Gabriel & Dresden Mix)
Tilt - The World Doesn't Know <--- completely unexpected and ing rocked
Andain - Beautiful Things <--- the vocals were used over another track i didn't recognize
Michael Burns - Forwards
Filterheadz - Yimanya
Motorcycle - As the Rush Comes (Sweeping Strings Mix) <--- don't know why they would play this... prob catering to the KTU crowd. LOL
Beber & Tamara - Travelling On (Gabriel & Dresden Mix)
Sander van Doorn - Dark Roast

G&D @ Spirit Review:
not bad at all. I was feeling the set the whole night, but the sound did seem a bit distorted from my side. i was under the booth to the right of the speakers. i was thinking they couldve done something about that, but it wasnt that bad or that serious. Tracklisting was amazing. Andain - Beautiful Things is one of my most favourite songs, and I was very surprised they dropped that track. haha I haven't heard that track in a long ass time live. I wasn't feeling too much of the As The Rush Comes.. I don't know. . . it seemed very weak. either ways, out of a possible 10, I give G&D a 6.5 for the night.

o yea, No One On Earth was a beautiful track as well. haha :D

overall a good night

they didn't have much of an entrance and when one left a few songs before the other their exit/encore was also a bit quiet. But they have so many really good songs to choose from that the set was good. As people have said, pick up their 2 cd album "Gabriel & Dresden - Bloom." They also played a few new songs that are not on their cd that were awesome.

damn man, that really sucks..
I cant believe what happens at the door these days, especially spirit. I mean spirit is no crobar thats for sure.. but also crobar is alot less trashier than spirit in my eyes. Still, its one thing if he came alone than if he came with his girl.. i mean cmon at least he came with you. =\
g/d come by kinda often, you should be able to catch them again in 2-3 months.. but hopefully you dont have to wear a suit to go see em ;)

yeah, i was wondering who that was that took over at 4:30. you had the place bugging out until well past 5 when i left. the intensity was way up over anything played earlier. Were you playing tech house?

Thanks man. I was actually not even supposed to close but g & d had to catch a plane and had to leave the club. I didn't have a lot of my regular closing material with me but I had some cd's with harder stuff. Yeah, I guess you could say it was bassline heavy progressive tech? lol
