I don't wear dresses because most of them look quite uncomfortable. When clothing is too loose, it tends to get caught on things, which would cut down on a lot of effeciency if I needed to get somewhere quickly. I don't attend formal events often, either - so there's truly no real reason as to why I would need to don loose, flowing clothing as an aesthetic statement.
Don't try to scare me with thoughts of what the future might be if men wore dresses, either - it's not that frightening of a thought when you think of humans as individuals and not as just a homogenized culture or gender. I will admit that men and women are different - there's no contesting that, but let that be decided by the person, not what they wear or necessarily what they look like.
Perhaps I have been a catalyst in heightening this discussion to levels by which it wasn't intended though. I'll be real about things - I don't wear clothes designed for women, as it would be a tougher existence trying to live past the labels placed on me, and I don't get off on transvestiteism either - it sorta makes things harder to be sexually aroused by wearing the "opposite" gender's clothing when you truly pay the concept little heed. What I am talking about though is, as usual, ideals. We don't live in an ideal world, but ideals have steered the human race into doing both great and horrible deeds in the past - what other recourse do we have? Perhaps I am living in a fantasy land where there are no barriers between souls though - am I ahead or behind? For I honestly do not know...
All I know is, these things such as clothing and skin color and genetics - they're all "sticky" things. We are so much more than that, yet we, as a species, dwell on them regardless. Part of me wants to move past it so badly; it pains me to see you people talk about them and it pains me to see people hurt in this world because of such materialistic ideas of the self. Move past it.
In a socio-ideal sense though (one that is, by the very nature therof, ephemeral) males should not wear pink. It's for women because, on a primal level, much like red, it is utilized by mammals to signify the readiness of its bearer because of its correlation to the color of the nubile human female vagina. |

What's the big deal? Pink is a colour like any other. I like the fact that it's being liked more now within some male communities (Korea & Japan?), as it balances things out. |

This whole paragraph is sexism and is very insulting. Why not give everyone a choice? So what if you or other might not like a colour or design -- IT'S NOT YOU WEARING IT! I'm sick of people doing things like this just in the name of the rest of society. Can't anyone think of how _they alone_ feel anymore?
My cousin just two days ago was over and four out of six people in a room told her that she had to fix her hair (only because they thought it didn't look nice) when it turns out that my cousin likes it like that and I told her that's ALL THAT MATTERS. She thanked me and gave me a hug. The end. Full stop. |
