I disagree that Reason is not a sequencer. It IS. And an awesome one but only within it's own devices..
I like reason becuase it's very simple and intuitive.. I mean I wish they supported at least midi out...
Like going on the menu and selecting "Add external device" that's all... It would look like a reason device with knobs etc but it mainly would be considered an external device with all knobs mapped out... it's that simple...
I am so used to the Reason interface that when I use other software I get an allergic reaction...
Some may argue that you can use reason with rewire to interface with other devices, but I would much rather use Reasons sequencer... |

Meh, I don't have any friends anyway. And I agree with nectario, "Add external device" would be pretty rad, (the Logic Environment can do the software mapped knobs to hardware thing and I love love love it) Reason's sequencer is just so intuitive and *musical* ya know?. I was just trying to defend the app against people who post things like "YO, AlL Of YoU StUpID ReSAnn iS sUcKy and YoU LiK mY B@llzzzzzzz"
(not that anyone really does that around here, this place is mostly respectful from what I've noticed, but it does happen). Basically I was saying that there seems to be so much hate based on certain types of software or mac/pc. I wonder, why do people seem to get so MAD when someone else uses gear that makes sense to the way that someone else works or thinks. You hear so many cheeky "it's not the program, it's how you use it" posts, I think they are just a reaction against people who have so much bottled up hate toward an inanimate piece of code. "The REAL reason I hate FL Studio is 'cuz FL Studio used to beat me up and steal my lunch money...." |

Actually, I once emailed them directly asking them why don't they support hardware synths. Their response: "You think it's necessary? But we don't."
Then I responded: Well if you guys don't care about having more sales, then I guess it's fine.... The fact is, a lot of people are not switching to Reason for it's lack of hardware synth/VST support..
Then I got a email thanking me and saying they would discuss it...
The fact is we STILL need hardware synths.. If processors ran at 10ghz, then I would understand their argument against hardware synths... |
reason doesn't use up a lot of cpu. i used to use reason 2.5 on a p3 800mhz and it would let me have around 12 synths going at once without reaching 80% of the cpu usage bar.
now imagine what it can do on a 3ghz now.
i use a lot of vst's now and on my 1.8gig i only have around 8 - 10 synths running (absynth, vanguard, etc) for it to reach 100% bar of cpu and continuously cut out.
the bottom line is, reason is extremly good on the cpu.
reason won't introduce vst support because they want their product to replace the need for vst synths. if you're good with programming the reason synths then you will know you can still generate almost any sound vst's support. but reason still needs more effects. plus it also needs support for audio tracks for voice recording, etc. |
