nice choice! but not stick? tsk tsk ;)

Mazda's done well with their new lineup...but fuk the underpowered RX-8, what's *really* nice is the new MazdaSpeed6

http://www.canadiandriver.com/artic...mazdaspeed6.htm

Built in Japan (unlike the Mazda6, which is assembled in the U.S.) the car will be powered by a 2.3-litre direct-injection turbocharged engine making 256-horsepower. Challenging the "no replacement for displacement" dictum, this small engine will also produce 280 lbs.-ft. of torque @ 3,000 r.p.m., propelling the car from 0-100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, and to a top speed of 240 km/h (European specs).
...
A custom six-speed manual is the only available transmission, and no automatic is planned at this stage.

Don't you DARE badmouth the RX-8. I'd buy an RX-8 over a 350Z or WRX STi any day of the week. Why? I simply adore high revving engines, and the 9000rpm redline of the RX-8's 1.3L RENESIS rotary just makes me all hot and bothered (why I love the Elise/Exige/340R and S2000 as well).

In addition, I bet even with all 276 ponies of the Mazdaspeed6, the RX-8 will make the MS6 it's bitch on a twisty road, or a nice twisty racetrack. A dragracer it is not, rather a corner carver.

{edit} Wait, that CanadianDriver article quotes 256hp, but the articles I've read all say 276. Also, 6.6 sec 0-100kph? The Dodge SRT-4 does it in 5.9. That's pretty weaksauce, Mazda.

Yes, Mazda parts are pricy. I had a 1990 RX7 and got rid of it because of parts and the motor work. I drive a Toyota now :)

S2000 is sweet...I've driven a friend's on many many occassions...a pleasure to drive, no doubt...and the Elise...well...that's just automotive GENIUS.

my point is that the RX-8 is touted as a sports car and it lags behind the competition. I'd take a total package Mazdaspeed6 over a RX-8 any day. The Mazdaspeed6 will live up to it's billing...a capable sport sedan. The RX-8 is a nice car, but simply underpowered, IMHO.

An STi would eat an RX-8...I prefer the appearance of the RX-8, no question...big thumbs up on styling and for bringing back the rotary engine...but that's where it ends. I'd take a 350Z over it too. Nissan knows what they're doing...incredible lineup of cars.

SRT-4? yay, a cheap Neon with a turbo. fuk that. I don't care what Mopar can do for that car, I'd *never* consider buying one. Sure, I'm a performance freak first and foremost, but there's a limit when you consider that you'll be driving the car every day...and a fugly Neon is well past that limit ;)

High revving engines are for the track...not for daily drivers, IMHO...I'll take useable torque over high end HP any day...which is why I think the 5th Gen GTi we'll see next fall will be a great car. MUCH better daily driver than a high revving Hon-duh, I think ;)
