Say you are getting laid off next spring, but your company is giving you a generous bonus & severance package and up to 6 months add'l salary upon termination. You figure you can reasonably spend $4-7k on a vacation anywhere in the world, a trip lasting up to 5 weeks. Where would you go? What would you do? Would you go to one place or try seeing as many cities as possible?
I'm facing this situation in April of next year... I have several ideas but there are so many places to visit I can't list them all. Honestly I can't even think of them all, so I'd like to get some feedback on places YOU would want to go. My first thought was a Europe trip - spend a week each in England, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Germany. But I've been thru most of Europe already, now Asia is sounding good... |

| I would not go to Ibiza during April, the season doesn't start till late may or early june. Holland, that would be on the top of the list during april. I mean i HAVE to take a tour of the Heniken brewery down there! Can't forget about the UK, always need to kick it with the queen. Ask some of the other sections if there are any major events during the time you plan to go and go to each one. Save money on hotels and stay with international TA's :D |

thanks for the responses. Ibiza is not really happening until late June-Sept, so unfortunately I won't go there in April. If I do go to Europe, I'd do a backpacking trip staying in hostels and buying a Euro Rail pass... starting in London for a week, then Frankfurt, Rome, Barcelona, and hopefully Athens. Although I could go to Asia for the same airfare price, and stay and decent hotels in Thailand, China, Japan, and Singapore. Hotels are extremely cheap in Asia (except Japan) so I'd actually save quite a bit of money on fixed expenses, letting me spend more on fun stuff. Then there's Australia & New Zealand, I could spend a full month there no problem.
Anyone travel to any part of Asia or Australia before? Have any stories or experiences to share? Places to go, things to see, etc... |

| ever thought of disneyland? $50 for the ticket and you can stay at my place for only $1500 per nite. Just around your budget. You have to use the downstairs bathroom though! :p |
