I can cook anything I have the recipe for. It's not really that hard to follow directions. *shrug* I just make sure that I have tried it out before I share with multiple people.
But since I still live with the 'rents, I don't have to cook all too often. |

i'm at that point where i could be a chef if i wanted to. i improvise sometimes. and i've cooked basically everything from mexican to oriental; it's just a matter of having the right ingredients and ideas, and it's hard sometimes with asian food.
also, i'm mostly a vegan now and i'm mostly eating healthy (NB: not light, but sometimes), so a lot of healthy vegan dishes from anywhere. fish and shrimp and salmon would probably be my specialty.
favourite ingredient: anything with an alcohol content.
as for baking, i can do it, but i choose not to most of the time. it's way too methodical, like being in the chemistry lab.
@taltul, you don't have to spend that much money on, say, a Ginsu knife. just make sure whatever you have is thoroughly sharpened. strange, but the sharper, the safer. |

| I practicly never use a recipe, much prefer simple stuff with good ingredients and well thought out use of them. And nice sauces, using wine to deglaze pans used for searing meat for example. |

| I cook most of my meals by myself. My mom taught it to me :D.. She is the better cook though:tongue2 .. I don't use any recipes either. Just have some basic ingredients and then improvise the rest... |

i'm a pretty decent cook myself, and i love entertaining. i'm not so much a "from scratch" type of cook though because i don't have time. i'm very good at making quick meals and sort of spicing them up a bit with my own stuff and making it taste like i slaved in the kitchen for hours, when really it only took like 30 min.
i make great burgers (i marinate the beef with spices and teryaki sauce). i like sliced avocado on my burgers too.
i also make a great stuffed salmon filet. i buy them prestuffed with crab meat from the seafood market, and then i put spicy sechuan sauce, honey, and teryaki sauce..then i make sort of a nut crust topping with ritz crackers and chopped nuts w/ melted butter.
another great and easy way to make good veggies is to just add Kraft Italian dressing and let them simmer in a pan (covered) on medium for like 10 minutes. i do that with asparagus & fresh green beans. |

Mmmmm, Slylee - you're making me hungry. :(
*goes to get some pretzels*
Here's a good one:
San Francisco Pork Chops
4 pork chops
1 teaspoon oil
----SAUCE----
1 garlic clove, minced
2 teaspoon oil
4 tablespoon dry sherry or broth
4 tablespoon soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
----FINAL TOUCH----
2 teaspoon cornstarch
2 tablespoon water
ingredients together and set aside. 2. Trim pork chops of fat and saute in hot oil until brown on both sides. 3. Pour sauce over chops. Cover tightly and simmer over low heat until chops are tender and cooked through, 30 to 35 minutes. Add a little water, (1 to 2 Tb) if needed to keep sauce from cooking down too much. Turn once. 4. Remove chops to platter. Stir in cornstarch dissolved in water. Cook until thickened. 5. Pour over chops and serve. Tips: Boneless pork loin chops can be used. Trim fat and pound to 1/4-inch thickness. Cooking takes only 20 minutes.
I find you can replace the pork with chicken very easily, especially since the chicken tends to marinate much better than pork more often then not. Also, for added spice, half of a fresh Jalapeno pepper cut into slices will make things more interesting ;) |

I always thought you either were or you weren't?
Coz seafood is also a no-no for vegans.
