"There are five people you meet in heaven," the Blue man suddenly said. "Each of us was in your life for a reason. You may not have known the reason at the time, and that is what heaven is for. For understanding your life on earth.... People think of heaven as a paradise garden, a place where they float on clouds and laze in rivers and mountains. But scenery without solace is meaningless. This is the greatest gift God could give you; to understand what happened in your life. To have it explained. it is the peace you have been searching for."

...

"There are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.... It is because the human spirit knows, deep down, that all lives interesect. That death doesnt just take someone, it misses someone else, and in the small distance between being taken and being missed, lives are changed."

* those are just excerts from the book. its a really inspirational, though-provoking book. this is the story of one man and the 5 people he meets in heaven and what they teach him to understand his life.

Is there a lot of religious crap in it, or no? Cause i's sounds dope from glitt's excerpts.

glittergirl
not really religious at all. it seems to be more philosophical... more about the meaning and purpose of life. its pretty cool, and very touching.

It's by a great author - Mitch Albom - he also wrote Tuesdays With Morrie - which was adapted into movie form with Hank Azaria (of Simpsons fame) and one of Hollywood's truely gifted ones - Jack Lemmon playing the main roles. One of the exec producers on the movie is Oprah Winfrey - which is not suprising - you'll understand what i mean if u read the book & watch the movie - its very much a fit in Oprah's Book Club. anyway i am out - have to read second half of 5 People... and see the movie adaptation. Laterz, Alex:D :p :toocool: :tongue2
