I don't like the title of this thread, the longer oyu go on life the more that you realise that there are more differences within a certain ethnic group than between different ethnic groups.

Anyway, I think it comes down to preferences within a group of people with similar interests. From my experience people often tend to listen to similar music to their friends and associates and liking a form of music often has as much to do with what that genre represents and the ideologies of the people that promote it.

i'm black i listen to trance

It'd be interesting to see how many of the black TA's (or all TA's actually) are gay, given the history of House.
Dmatrox
i dont think music is race specific, maybe except for country. ha.

race has nothing to do with music tastes

Music is related to culture, and culture is related to race, so yes there is a correlation.
rooibos

NOOOOOOOOOOOO

I don't wanna be getting robbed in clubs and , come and shoot my club up will you!!!

black is wack!!!

but seriously, i think music culture comes with how you grow up with it. i grew up in europe so i got exposed to trance fairly quick. most blacks get exposed to RnB and Rap because that is their cultural music and heritage. of course there are always exceptions however you'd be surprised how many whites in the US don't listen to "techno". there are very few of us over here compared to the MTV teeny bopper pop-listening gooners.

agree with the above ^^^
depends on exposure, and how much you are getting it ..

but yes whites ==> guitars, blacks==>drums (why do you think so many TAs were high on Andain - Beautiful Things when it first came out .. all because of the guitar . :wtf: )

i wouldn't say the pie is 90% white, 10% asian .. more like 75% white, 25% asian .. you go to california and virginia .. you will see a lot of asians into the edm more than rap .. 5 years ago, it was reverse, but now they're into the edm

but here's a suggestion .. instead of forcing them into trance, lead them to drum n bass (the closest to rap) .. then house, then trance .. it's either going to be one step and that's all, or the slow one-step-at-a-time process .. you can always introduce them to felix da housecat .. a lot of the "african americans" here are digging him right now ..
