Instead of using one PC with one CPU at a time, you can spread the workload around to speed things up, for eg. it was used in LOTR:

| The thing is if your trying to spred the load accross multi comps then you need a interface that allows it. Those computers are for Seti@home which is a form of distributed computing that allows stanford university to use your extra cpu cycles to do research for life on other planets. There is also folding @ home which is pretty much the same except it folds proteins to it can find cures for things such as cancer and other bad stuff. Its free to download and it helps save lifes so why not do it! |

haha I have that SETI @ home thing on my computer...no aliens found yet...but y'all will be the first to know, lol. I hope they like Trance, and dont stick things in my bum |

Yeah some people are CRAZY about Seti@Home and Folding@Home
I've done at least 100 work units in folding & over 850 in seti
I used to be on littleblackdog forums & they are in the top 10...beating microsoft & only a few people are active. They spend all money on computers, and put it on as many computers as they can. |
