I am being forced to embrace it. A gay relationship IS NOT equivalent to a straight one (as to children, etc.).
| quote: | | and as you claim,if the percentage of gay people is so small why even worry about the family unit being tarnished.... |
A family is a man, a woman, and their children. The government is legitimizing something other than that.
***
Gay civil unions may be a legitimate alternative, but marriage is a special relationship that homosexuals can never experience.
And that's just too bad. When you choose that lifestyle, one of the things you give up is the right to get married.
That's life. |

something to remember is that there are gay people that are against same sex marriage and adoption.....not every gay person is union minded,lol......
with the divorce rate the way it is i think the "traditinal" marriage is not so easy to describe anymore....conventional families have their share of problems too.....just because a kid has a mother and a father doesn't mean he's coming out an angel.....lots of single or same sex parented kids come out in pretty good shape with a good head on their shoulders and a strong sense of values.... |

yes, but they're the exception... kids of single parents are at a disadvantage (economicly and emotionally).
I want kids to get the very best, and that means two parents.

Two wrongs don't make a right.
Anyway, divorce should be illegal except where there's fault (abuse, etc.). |

Again let me stress that i am not against same sex adoption as long as there is an agreed third party who is of opposite sex who will also "parent" that child. |
should that same standard be extended to single parent families who wish to adopt children ?

The only constant in all scenarios were that there were a strong female and male role model in the child's upbringing regardless of whether the family were gay or hetrosexually based. |
You clearly didn't get what I said then.
What I was trying to communicate is that the child needs a strong role model. Sex of said role model is irrelevant - as is having "one of each".
Our society has become less and less genderfied {made up word, you know what I mean} with the dissolution of the typical "male" and "female" role.
The "nuclear" idea is one such that it has a strong founded need of the requirement for multi-gendered role model(s) for one (a person/child) to thrive.
Fortunately society's stucture and format has evolved where this is a passe point of view (in the respect of role models and development) and isn't applicable. If this view/opinion still was valid - women would still be expected to stay at home (fyi, they aren't). |

it's funny all this is happening here in light of the recent US election and its link to the whole "moral issues" factor .. you'd almost think it was intentional ;)
