Official Tune of the Year 2004 Voting open now! (pg. 5)

Coup
Firstly, it has came to my attention via a few people that the current top 40 in the heats arnt accurate. after double checking some of the results myself, its become apparnt that certain tunes scored much higher in the voting than others, yet the much lower scoring tune has made it to the polls. also, a break in the clouds has been included when it was in last years running.

the reasons for these mistakes im not clear on, but i've got to speak to ian about all this, but in the interest of fairness, ive decided to hault this years track of the year, and the maths behind the top 40 selection is going to have to be redone.

this will be done asap, and no doubt im gona lose most of sunday on this to get the new heats up asap.

in the meantime, u can still nominate ur top 5 in the thread in music discussion, although it'll prob only be open for another 24hrs until the new top 40 is done.

i appologise for the inconvience this has caused, and i'll sort it asap.

coup.

it's not a surpise, ian is biased as hell and there is no way whatsoever someone like him should be conducting somethng like this
Matt
when I put in my votes, I thought the track selection was WAYYYYY OFF.

There was lot of 2004's best tunes missing. And by a lot, I mean all.

Give it a rest. The winter is almost here and your brain cells are already gone.

The reason some tunes were overlooked was that I didn't want this to just turn into a 1 dimensional contest full of every asot and gdjb tune, but to get fans of other styles involved too, bringing all of ta in and not just the section who worship those simple tracks.

ISquare, i might have known you'd crawl out of your pit to try & poke fun at me. Well look at it this way, I don't like progressive or house yet i chose tunes from MFA, Holden and Mylo & Prydz. If it makes me biased to try & bring lots of styles into 40 tunes then I appologise.

A lot of people told me that this task would be thankless and I knew so, but I Honestly thought I could run a contest on time and try to bring as much of TA into it as possible, I guess I was wrong on that count.

To those wondering how A break in the clouds got in anyway, well I passed the final shortlist onto about 5 mates, and none of them picked up on it, so I can only appologise again that I included it.

As for those who supported me and thanked me for trying to bring their fave styles into it, then I'm sorry that it looks like the majority of those tracks will be replaced by ones such as the one Titov here cried for because it wasn't in.

Think of it like this tho, there were a couple hundred replies, the chance of over 1000 tunes nominated and I had to bring it down to 40, I can't include everybodies favourites, and the majority of people accepted that, unfortunately missing one or two tunes out and people complaining about that seems to have made me look like a tit. Well I'm sorry if that is the case, but TA used to be better than this, every one of 40'000 members could have voted here, how do you please everyone ? You Don't.

What do I take out of this ? Well the fact that I tried to organise something but ultimately the cries & whims of a minority of people mean that it all has to be done again. Sure this brings the people who have an eternal problem with me like InfiniteSquare out to try poke fun at me, but that's always going to happen. I appologise for trying to make this something other than a glorified armin/markus/mp3kid contest and to bring most of the older members of ta into it too as well as the newer ones. Sadly in the 3 years i've been here the quality of some members has really come down, to the point where they cannot PM me with problems as I'd asked, but go above my head & make me look like a right twat. Well congratulations, you succeeded :)

i don't pride myself on my maths ability, but I think i can work out that surrender, an ending etc got more votes than hertz - recreate and joris voorn - incident, 2 tracks voted for by one of the poll organisers, well fancy that!

If you read what I'd tried to say all along, I wanted to bring in many styles and not just the ones that get hyped all the time here, If I'd chosen just 40 armin/schulz like tunes I'd have alienated many of the ta's who have moved on in taste but are still great contributors to the boards, but it's a no-win situation, and I realise that now.

We should all be glad that Ian took a lot of his time to come up with all this...it wasn't ever going to be an easy task, and i think he did a very good poll this year, bar the inclusion of a couple of old tunes :p

His idealogies are as democratic as possible, which is the fairest representation of what can be done. So all the haters out there, off :)

sadly mate I think this is the way TA Is headed, with the people who unlike the older ones, if they see something they don't like, they argue, they abuse, they flame, rather than being constructive. What was the best community on earth once is in danger of going to over certain people. Thankfully the majority of UKTA is still intact and there's some decent ppl within there :p
