That was make-up and prosthetics. The guy who played Sloth was a former LA Raider named John Matuszak. |

| I think she can see and hear because she had her arms stretched out to give hugs to the people. She just cant talk or laugh, instead she makes a weezing kinda noise. Very very sad, my heart goes out to the parents who will have to go through so much with her. Hopefully advances in medicine will mean that she eventually does have a face as beautiful as her heart. |

I don't think it's necessarily a shame. It would be a shame if they aborted the child.. But she will experience life on a completely different level than us.. Think of what would go on inside her brain without having to use most of its energy on processing sensory information. I'm sure we could find a way to communicate with her through touch. |
Most worthwhile thing anyone has said in this thread.
I like how the father put it:
| quote: | | God doesn't give you anything you can't handle. |
Though religious differences may remain between all of us, I think any reasonable person here can agree that nothing in life is impossible to overcome in some way. She may not be as socially advantaged as many children are in life, but she will experience things that none of us will ever know - hers will be a very unique life.
As a trance community, I think we can all agree that sensation is not limited by much at all - compare it to the feeling that music gives you. Mere vibration seems to bring you to a higher state of being - how is this possible? Sentient beings alike, we are not dissimilar to this young girl - her sense of feel will probably be far more sensitive than any of ours could ever be. In a way, to her, we may very well be the disadvantaged ones. In a way, her capability for sensation may appear limited, but in all actuality, far more concentrically-infinite than ours.
I see far more handicapped people around me every day. The most common disfigurements are far more latent. |
