So I was in a particular women's store the other day (won't say which but the initials are VS.. haha) where needless to say work some (i did say SOME) of the more... (how to say nicely)... less-worldly and edumacated girls I have encountered.. I usually have to slow down my sentences and add a valley girl singsong to my questions just to get them to understand me...
Anyways, I overheard 2 girls discussing something about "oh, there's supposed to be some sort of.. what's that called.. TRANCE guy there tonight, yuck yuck, sounds bitchin", referring to Satoshi Tomiie spinning at 1150 last Saturday...
So I asked the one girl, while she was checking me out at the register, if it was indeed 1150 she was talking about.. and she said "oh ya, it sounds, like, totally, like, so much fun... like, I just loove trance in the clubs"... obviously not knowing who she was going to be hearing spin...
To which I intentionally replied "oh ya, Satoshi is a master on the decks..." .. receiving a blank stare from her like I had just asked her to divide 100 by 4...
So then I said "1150 has cute bartenders" and then she wouldn't shut up...
It amuses me how mainstream and un-original ppl can be... hit up the clubs just b/c it's again a Sat night and well, where else would you be? gosh, how stupid of me.... |

not to mention also that techno is technically a subgenre of its own and a completely different sound from trance...
long live kevin saunderson, derrick may, juan atkins, the cats at kraftwerk and yello.... |

heh, reminds me of something that happened to me... I was talking to a friend (well, more of an acquaintance haha) at school, and they asked me what I was doing that night, and I said "oh, I'm going to see Sander Kleinenberg at the Mark." "who's that?" they say... "oh, he's this really good progressive house dj from holland."
and what's their reply?
"oh, really? i prefer djs from america, guys like mike b"....
and for those of you that don't know mike b, he's an atlanta local who spins hip-hop/top 40/cheese trance... and usually spins with his shirt off...
gotta love the ATL |

my question is: since when did people refer to EDM as trance?!?!? i always thought it was always known by phrases such as "walk on water" or "we're in heaven"...wowie.
...this is definitely not a good sign!!!!!
