Movie: Saw (pg. 2)

Haven't seen any movies this year except Saw ... (not many good movies have come out) -- it looked sick and twisted, so naturally caught my attention.
I'd have to agree about the cheesy/ty/annoying acting, but stuff like that really doesn't bother me. I liked the plot too, it was an interesting twist at the end, and like the guy above me said, a good way to end the movie.

Not really, but I absolutely HATED audition, what a waste of money to rent that piece of crap (no offense if you liked it). I did like 'Ichi the Killer' though (made by the same guy as audition [I think]).
Anyways, most of the ladies I've talked to that have seen it found it to be a bit too extreme and such, but I really didn't think it was that bad. The ideas in the movie might of been gruesome, but there really wasn't much actual footage in it of gore and blood.
Oh well though, I think its worth seeing, a nice change up from the usual, boring, everyday crap you see in movies nowadays. |

SPOILERS
The thing with saw is that the plot twist at the end, with the "dead" guy not being dead is retarded. It's an old man, lying on cold, cold tile, not moving, and controlling his breathing perfectly for many hours, except for when he had to shock them, again, withough them noticing his movement. And did I mention the tile? Go to your bathroom and stand still barefeet on the tile, I bet you won't last more than 10 minutes before your feet go numb. And where did he hide the shocking remote? He had the gun in one hand and I didn't see anything in his other hand when the photographer got the tape deck from him.
So of course nobody can guess that the corpse is the bad guy. Because its too ing ridiculous to even think of.
Spoliers end, muthas |

I suppose you have a point. But what about the guy who works at the hospital (the guy you THINK is the bad guy until the last two minutes of the movie when the twist happens)? --perhaps he was the one doing the shocking? --Remember his life was at stake too, so he had a vested interest in making sure so-and-so was dead and what not.
And about the cold tile ... maybe the room was heated? :/ ehhh. Or the old guy, who does have a disease of some kind, and who's obviously a sick maniac (hence his interest in these games he plays) wouldn't be bothered by the cold?
It is a bit impractical to think of some jackass lying there for 10 hours or so just to do this, but oh well.
Oh well -- I still think its worth seeing. |

its a ing great film, but i think it could have been better. but, considering its the guys first film ever, i think he did a sterling job, and hopefully his budget will be big enough to employ better actors for his next film.
the shooting of the film is amazing, the camera work, the direction, all world class. |

Thats why I specifically mentioned that the guy was a bit sick (hence his killing games) and the disease he has. :/

Ugh, god I hated phone booth.

That was his first film? :eyes: thats pretty impressive. Though sometimes getting "big" and getting a budget doesn't exactly mean good things, for example I liked all of Quentin Tuarantino's movies, but Kill Bill just seemed to scream "Wow! I've got a budget now! *dances*" and such. Kind of an annoyance. |

i have to disagree in a BIG way about Kill Bill, i think they are both amazing films, in my books his 2nd best (after pulp fiction) :p
but yeah i hope james wan gets at least a little more cash, so he doesn't have to use actors from robin hood: men in tights in his next film :stongue: |

it was a little too slow for me. it was more like a suspense thriller than a horror movie. when i go to see a movie labelled "horror" i want to see a high death total not two guys locked in a room the whole time. the best part of going to see this was all the previews for real horror movies like the new rob zombie film. and if you guys are complaining about this movie not being realistic enough then there is something wrong with you...its a movie, they arent supposed to be 100% realistic. |

personally, i think the best horrors are psychological, as in not all about a high death toll, and i think Saw is very psychological. horrors are not always supposed to be gory, but scary, its just that gore scares some people.
but hey, thats just me :) |

Coulda been better: Yep
David Fincher (Seven) Influence: Yep
Bad Acting: Yep
Best movie of 2004: Nope
First off, I'm sure that tons of movies do the 'creative killings' thing, but it just reminded me of Seven. Psychological horror is far better, but rarely done right. They always have to reveal the killer at the end, which is when you either walk out in disgust, or double over laughing (in the case of some sfx zombie/werewolf/vampire).
Anyway, it wasn't a bad movie. But nothing to write home about.
That Rob Zombie movie sucked hard IMO. But good news if you like it; he's making a new one.
Phone Booth caught me off guard. I expected it to be really bad. Instead it was just... different. I'm to this day not sure whether I liked it or not. I'd see it again just to find out how I felt about it a second time. |
