Hehe, I have been 'sorting' mine for the last 6 months! Problem is I keep buying more.

I can relate to that, but if I just made categories and was anal about putting them back in the right stack, things would be great. I just keep ending up making new, random stacks. After a few months everything is mixed up again. Last time I separated into two groups of vinyl. Classic/favorites (older) and newer tracks/less impressive tracks. Then each section had progressive, progressive trance, breaks, trance, hard trance/house and a miscellaneous for the hodge podge records. I need to do that again.

i have mine sorted out in different genres.. all my semi-old trance and other edm records that i dont play anymore[2001 - 2003 non classics] are up in the shelves.. along with old school hip hop, reggae, r&b, 80s dance, newave, 80s/90s domestic house records and some random stuff are all up on the shelf as well.. then, all the EDM records i play now are sorted out in crates by genres... trance, progressive, breaks, techno, and 2 crates of trance classics.

sigh* i DO need/want to archive my stuff on Discogs eventually. and also gonna rip all my collection into a laptop and play them thru Serato Scratch Live and everytime i buy new records i will be ripping them into the laptop as WAV. so i have all my record collection ready to go AND @ home physically. :D

I do not have a desire to archive my recs. I know what I have, for the most part. There might be a b-side that I can't remember the title of or remixer, but I have a pretty good recollection of my tracks. I don't want to spend the time searching through, and writing the names down for, all my vinyl. I wonder how many I have now. I'm pretty sure it's still under 1000, but definitely over 600. I can't imagine having a 10,000 record collection, like some do. I've only been collecting them for a little under 3 years though, so I guess I'm keeping a decent pace.

Do you have some that aren't on your discogs? If not you have ~450, right? You must purchase like a machine to challenge to 1000.
