| you can make practically anything in trance with zeta and vanguard alone. but. it takes alot of work. its no walk in the park. and zeta especially is a mind to learn the ins and outs of. even vanguard which is simple and well designed by any standards will take years before you feel you are getting some great original sounds out of it. |

People's different producing styles/likes/dislikes sometimes lead them to prefer different synths, but I'll second Albino 2, Vanguard, z3ta+ & V-Station.
Speaking of Albino, it seems like I don't hear as much about this synth as many others. I wonder why. :conf: I think it's fantastic. |

I think its because Albino is hard to program, takes a lot of time to learn... At least that's the experience that i have with it |

albino is easy to program, but it for me it's just a standard VA, nothing special and not really fat sounding... |

the demos on the refx website are deffo vanguard alright. but i think on some of the patches i think they use better reverb and delay. i certainly cant get vanguard to echo as sweetly as some of those patches do. the alphazone demo...that lead is a straight preset!
the DHS demos, some of them are played with aftertouch and some of them have a bit of screwing around on pitch/mod wheels. you need a midi controller to do those. you cant get aftertouch without one (doesnt work on your typing keyboard). other than that though, yea its the presets. although...tbh they dont sound as sweet when i just rattle them off in floops. i remember being not very impressed with the factory presets and just build my own sounds but those demos are actually quite flattering. same with the virus presets on access' website. they are deffo the same as the patches ive got but i could swear they've done something to it, maybe just tidied up the sound with a touch of mastering and some hardware effects and used the best balanced cables money can buy. or maybe i just suck or something... |

Yes, Z3ta+ is non-plus-ultra, the only thing is that it misses multiprocessor support, which is a real problem given that no faster CPU is available than 3200 MHz today ;)
For Vanguard, try and use the "spread" knob or draw panning envelopes if you need spheric sounds... |

Albino is great, maybe not for lead or bass but the arp is really really good. |
