Subey's Best Alternative Trance Track Poll

Here's a wacky idea that is so radical it will make your ears bleed...
There is a wide range of divergent tastes on TA.com, clearly the most popular tastes find common ground in the songs that find their way to ASOT, and as such they dominate polls based on popularity.
What about running 2 Official Best of Polls in order to give everyone a chance?
One could simply be "Song of the Year" as is being run now with no restrictions on the nominations...
The other Poll could be "Best Alternative Trance Song", and the special rule for the nominations is that they can't have been played on ASOT more than once (or at all)or some similar restriction.
Then everyone's voice will be relevant regardless of what their preferences are...
We don't want to drown TA in a dozen different year end track polls, but certainly some variation on these two would be reasonable? And its not too late to get the second poll up and running if we hammer out the details starting now... |

| Sounds nice. Dunno if a lot of people would be for it, but I like it. |

| this is exactly how i tried to run tune of the year, to include more tastes but it wasn't approved by upper powers and those who moaned about their fave tunes not making it... ah well |

| It wouldn't work because 90% of the s around here listen to ASOT/GDJB and don't want to leave them out. |

| ^ why would you leave them out anyway? |

| Because it's bordering on cheese. What would you say if we included Ian van Dahl tracks in the polls and had hundreds of 12-year-olds voting for them? |

So let me get this straight...
1: You want to use a poll, which only function is to determine populrity, to find out what tunes are best.
2: You want to determine what tunes should be in the poll by the criteria "must not be popular"
I really need to try the pills you guys are taking  |

| Would everyone just shut the up about bloody ASOT? You'd think it was the centre of the universe. I think the people on this board are the only ones who actually give a about it, the rest of the trance world couldn't care less. |

Why do we even need to pick the best track? Can we not just make lists? We're gonna listen to all the songs anyway no matter how the ranking adds up. So sure, lets document our favorite trance songs that haven't scored massive exposure separately from the biggest trance tracks overall, it would make for better organization anyway.
No matter what track wins, most people are gonna think that its a big joke, I dont see why we even bother trying to pick the best one. |

Erm, nothing. If TA actually DID have hundreds of 12-year-old Ian van Dahl fans posting regularly then it would be reflective of the board's overall taste, which is the whole point of the poll. Much like now we'd have to like it or lump it. |
