Re-birth because i prefer it , not particular reason
everybody says rebirth is more difficult but i found fruity loops more difficult |

If you want to just jump on in there and get some half-decent sounding tracks then use fruity loops.
But if you want to get some pro sounding tracks, then get reason, and a good quality hardware synth (I use the roland jp-8000),and spend a little more time learning the more complicated reason, and the results will be fantastic. |

Yeah id go with what transa said,
for xmas im gonna see if i can get the parents to help me pay for either some hardware synths or 2 1200s and a decent mixer. it all depends on how much money i have |

definatly reason....
i used re-birth, hated their bassline and drums
i used fruity loops and i don't like the way their effects work, the knobs and
and then i got reason..and i love it..you can really make a track sound professional. and just like someone mentioned before, if you get a nice synth to go with it you'll be straight. |

I thought Reason was a completely different tool, like a MIDI editor?
In FruityLoops you can write and play a melody, it has built-in instruments and a piano graph, -- does Reason have that too? |

Well from what I know so far Reason is not so user friendly :) I have no idea what I am doing with it... :D
And fruitloops definatly alot easier to use
but from what I can observe thus far reason can be alot more powerful once u get over the steep learning curve.
Any good online articles on the issue beside the manual ? |

Eugene : reason has build in instruments, piano roll...u name it it has it, and it can be used as a midi editor.
gk_nz: yea, reason is not user friendly, too me a while to figure out how to play with effects and all the devices it has, and it has a lot of devices...fruity loops is just a stand-alone program while reason u can connect with re-birth... |

one thing I have found very annoying is the difficultie I am having with trying to create my own instruments n stuff. When u create a new song it has all that crap and you have to go through and get rid of stuff just to do one thing alone and listen to it alone etc to get the sound u want. Also I haven't figured out exactly what all the various devices do but some are annoying as they are stopped and started in other parts and some do and ahhhhh its pretty daunting but I am determind to learn how to use it.
One question is though is it worth using if you dont have any external devices |
