What is the 4th Dimension? (pg. 2)

my idea of time is movement. the earth spins, therefore there is time according to the movement of the earth. if the earth didnt move, there would be no day or night, no time. just like in the nucleus of a black hole. its so compact, nothing can move, therefore time doesnt exist inside one.
| quote: | In a nutshell:
Light travels at a fixed speed. If, at this very second, a star 1 million light years away were to explode, we would not see this explosion for another 1 million years. If it exploded exactly 1 million years ago, we would just now be seeing it happen.
The supernova occurred at point x,y,z in space, at time T. Thus, time is the 4th dimension.
There's a lot more to it, but that's just the general idea |
light doesnt travel at a fixed speed. the 186,000mph speed is light travelling through a vacuum, but as we know space is full of countless objects of matter which light must pass through, slowing its progress down. images are distorted out of black holes because light is slowed down when it is close the a black hole, b/c of gravitational pull.

but, back to the subject. the cube is a moving cube unlike 3-D, so maybe my hypothesis is correkt. im going to look into all your references. |

I don't agree with you. |

Some human beings believe in the fifth dimension... others try to understand the sixth... we'll show you the way to a seventh dimension.

In a room the size of the earth. Its a black room...
Nothing is in it.
You walk 5 miles.. you can't tell how fast you went.. you can't tell how much time went by..
without external objects you can't have time |

No, it's because it's not a damn cube!!
That's just like watching a cube rotate around it's axis and then saying "the square is a moving square unlike 2-D". :stongue: |

that watch is measuring the rotation of the earth. i dont think the room is rotating. |

actually it doesn`t really. one day is a few seconds more than 24hrs! And a watch could be made for 100hrs... and the definition of an hour could be changed! doesnt prove that there is time... but if there is you would be able to say how much passed in terms of the human measurement of it! |

our timetable is based on the rotation of the earth. the mathematicals of it stems from the early calender system in mesopotamia thousands of years ago putting great emphasis on the number 60, while today, in other measurements, it is 100.
other than that, time is really just an idea. but, if it can be measured, than it exists, and can be scientifically proven, because science basically is measurement. |
