Please explain why being informed about what goes on in the world, is important to you?

It's a conversation piece for normal people. I go to work 5 days a week, I'm not off galavanting in Europe or doing anything interesting most of the time. So the news is the next best thing for discussion.

'Hey, did you hear about that woman cutting her kids arms off?'

-I don't watch TV. I read the paper.

im on the internet most of the time. ide say iwas watch 2, maybe 3 hours of tv a day. when i was younger, i watched 4,5,6 hours everyday. that was in the days of rugrats, rocko's modern life, real monsters, the old school stuff.

This is the disease of mankind bottled up in a single sentance. People are so busy egotripping and taking care of themselves, that everyone else ceases to matter. This is why there is 3rd. world hunger, why people start wars over something as stupid as oil and money, and why the world in general is a place of misery.

^^^ same here .. don't like people telling me the news .. i want to read the news instead ..

but yes .. i don't really watch tv that much .. other than movies, starz, or hbo .. it's going to be either football or basketball games on occasion, south park, and '24' coming up next month .. that's about it ..

i do like to watch cnn, msnbc, and cnbc now and again to catch up on news, the economy, and what are the highs and lows at the moment .. and of course the proverbial god show for all men .. "sportscenter" .. haahahaha ..

but that's about it .. don't watch fox, abc, nbc, or cbs ..

I used to watch it alot more back in high school, most shows these days are utter drivel.

I think there are maybe 6 shows I make sure I watch each week, and thats about it.

I spend more time watching dvd's or series or stuff on my phone, like simpsons, buffy, family guy, angel, futurama, scrubs, etc

That is something that could go either way. For myself, I don't think it applies. Yes, I try to shut myself off to most of it, but that doesn't mean I am not aware of it and trying to make an effort to help. I still donate money to charites *the little money that I can*, and I have volunteered my time for many organizations.

But for me, being so exposed to everything just pains me. I am the type to see a bum on the street, and all 5'2 of me will ask him if he wants some dinner. When I see things about children in third world countries dying, I cry. I feel hopeless to them; at least right now I am.

This is a matter of caring too much. My over-active sensitivity is what makes it difficult for me.

I watch about 1 hour of TV per month. Sometimes I'll just put on tribute tv (new movie trailers) but that's about it. This does not include movies though, or anime. I watch about 30 min - 2.5 hours of anime per day, but I don't consider that TV, cause it's either off my computer or on DVD.

I watch a couple of shows... and the news. But that's about all.

NiteMer
I watch a lot of tv, but I went about 2 months without tv when I moved into my apartment. Then football season started and I had to hook it up. I watch a lot of movies.
