it's like, you're in high school, and you go to the mall... and if you're the blonde-hair-blue-eyes-perfect-tan-skin-cute-preppy-but-trendy type, you have a plethora of stores to shop at - AE, A&F, Hollister, Aeropostale, etc... but if you're not as "cool" as all the hot gurls and jocks, you have to feel sad or dark and shop at Hot Topic because you are unique, and you need the latest clothing or accessory that signifies your "style".
at least, that's how it is around here. :o |

ok i was beckoned to this thread. i guess i'll post.
i personally don't understand goth couture...what is the point, other than to display an attitude somewhere along the lines, " SOCIETY! I'M DIFFERENT BECAUSE I HAVE BLUE HAIR AND EARINGS IN EVERY ORIFICE IN MY BODY, so that makes me COOLER than the rest of you BORING, normal people who are actually successful in life and wear ralph lauren bull and play sports". lol ok that's a bit far fetched...
i just prefer to make a statement with my personality or accomplishments...not physical/material type bull such as green hair and black lipstick.
i'm talking about the extreme people with mohawks and spike collars and like that...i mean it's cool to look at, but usually i'm laughing inside thinking, "alrighty then, i guess it's halloween for that guy EVERY day"!
HOWEVER, i'm not saying i dislike people who dress like that..., they can do whatever the hell they want why should i care? but people who dress like that (from my experiences) are usually always bitching about being "stereotyped" and that's hilarious to me.
i get stereotyped all the time because i have nearly platinum hair and i like to wear clothes that compliment my figure and high shoes, but i don't really get that bothered by the stereotyping because i know what i have to offer inside and i know i probably come off that way as far as my looks goes.
so anyway, i don't hate gothic people, i just don't understand it that's all. i think people dressing like that are the epitome of attention whores, who decided to not conform to society because they felt rejected by it in high school or something along the lines of that. |

my sister was a goth in highschool/college (she has since then grown out of it). I get it, just something to do with teen angst and wanting to be different. It seemed like a requirment at my college if you were a photog to prove to everyone you were edgy and had a dark mysterious artistic side to you. |
