So today I was in the mood to listen to some older tracks... And it saddend me how few I remembered really... but I love the general sound that trance had before the new millenium... Sounded so much less generic than it does now...
So my question, what are your favorite pre-2000 tracks? :)

| why don't they bring it back? i mean trance now adays is like having to prove that your emotional you know? like every in dj has to go all emotional and can't just make some kick ass tune like they did in 99' i hate to say it but trance has become pretty gay now adays becase of these in artists, and i listen to trance every day. |

I agree on that one. It seems most of the trance has lost the massive buildups and climaxes. Since now all trance sounds like 'The White Room' (Which I don't find that special, though, only the most overplayed ASOT tune of the year) Only a nice melody that goes on and on and some female dreamy voice goes 'whaaahaaahaaa' under it. Everybody seems to like that now and put older trance (like Gouryella, System F/Veracocha, Rank 1, Balearic Bill, Binary Finary) down as 'cheese' while IMO that represents the true sound of trance for me. Massive build ups, climaxes to die for, sweeping strings. It reminds me of all the good parties of the old days...., like I got all goosebumps when a trancesong was going to it's climax-fase to burst out in a boombastic melody.... |
