Question about Iraqi casualties

Ok, so I have no idea what the number of Iraqi civilian casualties is right about now, since the US invaded, but I was thinking about this last night.

Once the number of Iraqi casualties exceeds the number of americans who died in the 9/11 attacks, do you think Iraq would have a viable reason to attack the US? I dont mean fight them in Iraq like they are doing now, but actually try to attack american soil (although that scenario is quite unlikely). One could argue (well, many ARE), that the US invasion is not that different from the terrorist acts that occured on 9/11.

Also, have you noticed how the war was the only thing on the news back in march, but now you wouldn't even know about it if you watched the news or read the paper. I guess once things started going wrong the US didn't want us to know about it as much or something...

What do the Iraqi casualties in Iraq have to do with Americans who died on 9/11 as the two aren't connected?

Also if you factor in how many Iraqis have died by Iraqi hands since the war, perhaps they should be attacking the militants in iraq instead of the US soldiers as the militants are intentionally killing innocent iraqis and the Americans are just trying to rebuild the country and get the hell out.

Would those Iraqis have died if those American's hadn't?

So far I have to say that 9/11 and the invasion of Iraq are similar in that both have accomplished absolutely nothing but causing more violence.

No, they are different. 9/11 was against innocent American civilians going to work or walking down the street as a chunck of building fell on them. Iraq and Afgahanistan were offensives against the leadership of the nations. Our bombs are not perfect but intelligence and smart weapons reduces these casualities considerably.

First of all, 10,000 civilians, or whatever the real figure is, is intollerable even if you kill 100,000 soldiers doing so. and secondly, was Iraq really offensive against the leadership of the states? what have they done since the Gulf war to provoke this war?

Tomer,

Should the USA not have attacked the Axis powers during WWII because more Germans/Italians/Japanese civilians died than did ally civilians?

Here is a quote from myself from the Invasion for oil thread:

quote:
Even though he killed his own people (Kurds, Marsh Beduoins, etc.
Even though he kicked out weapons inspectors.
Even though he violated the First Iraqi War Treaty.
Even though UN Resolution 1441 supported this, not just the USA
Even though over 100,000 dead have been found
Even though he bribed many European officals in the Oil For Food Program

He was just a misunderstood nice guy.

That 100,000 dead have been found in mass graves and there are still more than need to be found. The guesses range from 500,000 to 1 million killed or disappeared in Saddam's regime.

Perhaps it would have happened even without 9/11, we will never know because we are in a world in which 9/11 happened.
