| Does it have the eq add-on? If it does, it wont be a big deal. If it doesnt, and you are used to tweaking the eq's, it will be a little strange. |

| you need to be a bit more selective on you mixing and what records go w/ what records. |

You only need to be more selective if the mixer doesn't have the eq add-on.
Without EQ's, you would have to be more careful in picking songs that mix well together, because you don't have the EQ's to cut the bass, mids, or higs.
That means that you would have to be careful not to mix two songs that both have very complex rythms, because the could clash.
If the mixer has EQ's, just mix as you would on a mixer with normal faders, but be more 'sensitive'. Rotary faders are usually a bit more accurate and sensitive compared to normal faders, and tweaking them a little bit might just turn out to be too much.
After a few mixes, you will get a feel for the mixer, and everything will be fine. |

| I've played on a two club-installed rane Rotaries, and they both presented a few challenges. The first time I spun out, I was the first to go on, and the mixer settings were all messed up. Make sure you have the sound guy there to explain everything to you. My second problem were the gains. There's no jumping meter like on the Pioneer mixers...it's just a small light that blinks faster according to how high the gains are. Ask the sound guy where you should keep them. I did play on a Rane without the extension once and it was annoying, but not the worst thing ever. Like everyone else said, I just picked songs that went well together...ones that I knew would sound fine without eq adjustments. IDK how you beatmatch, but you're going to have to use the one ear method unless they have the brand new Rotary installed, because you can only cue one channel. |
