man this tune is really cool... hypnotic... it sounds good... maybe the mix is a bit messy (but that might be good for this track... it gives it a lost in space, hypnotic feel). Let me know where you're done with this... I'd love to play it :)

percussions are great, kick is brilliant. pads and atmosphere are also fantastic.
bassline is nice and suttle, suits the kick perfect.
this sounds totally professional

take it as a compliment. at least they didn't compare you to scooter or to signum's old stuff. Signum has changed a lot over the years. I used to think they were crap, but until I heard "Push Through" they're now one of my favorite trance acts of all time.

that "sounds too much like [fill in the braquet]" really pisses me off.. especially when there's a lot of generic, derivative trance crap coming out every day and they don't get told off for that. It's good to have a reference or a couple of reference tracks to make sure you're sounding like a real trance track. If Signum put out an original drum groove, and this man is imitating them. That's good! It beats copying the same melodies every freaking trance song has. No song is an island. It was inspired by a batch of other songs, melodies, and atmospheres. If by copying Signum's drum groove, and making something better out of it, more power to him. Plus, when you copy from your favorite artists, you learn the techniques they do and you improve as a producer.

It only becomes a problem if Signum personally tells this guy he needs to change his drum groove because he blatantly ripped them off, but if they don't care. No one else will either. Unless you totally took the groove and messed it up (like how Scooter takes melodies and messes them up in their stupid rapping and chipmunk vocals).
