REVIEW: Vault in Waterloo/TA event
View this Thread in Original format
Theresa
So the night had started off with dinner at the Rude Native Bistro. Very nice setting, nice group of people, good food and interesting conversation. There were about 12-14 people to join us.

We all walked over to The Vault once dinner had finished up, and situated ourselves around the lounge. Slowly more and more people arrived.

Some new TA's that were not there on Monday arrived, which was nice to see, and of course, the familiar faces. Some outsiders (non-TA's) decided to come hang with us for a bit too, as well as people who happened to be friends with TA's, but not TA's themselves.

We all sat for the first couple hours just chatting and mingling, but as more and more alcohol was consumed, the more dancers arrived to the floor. By the end of the evening, everyone was up and dancing to DJ Ampz, (who was awesome by the way), totally enjoying themselves.

The first DJ to play did a very impressive job. Didn't catch his name, but he was a nice guy, and played a great set. Props to him :) Barry played afterwards, and as usual, did a great job.

Sadly, the Manager was a total jack ass, and asked one of our fellow TA's to leave, (he had been drinking A LOT, and was having difficulty holding himself up, but he wasn't causing any trouble.) That set everyone off on their ways home.

All in all, I would say it was a nice and relaxed evening, but not near as great as Monday night. Unfortunately, I was/am still quite ill, so I was having trouble keeping up through out the night. Special thanks to Jason for helping me out:)

I'd also like to thank all the people who made the night enjoyable for me, especially Jason and Lowell! You two are awesome! AND YOUR NOT 31!!!!!

Good times all around, meeting some more new TAs, and partying with old friendly faces. You're all awesome.

Craziest drive home ever, thanks to Dan and Rob. Bunch of drunken tards :haha: Kati slept the whole way.

I JUST rolled in right now, and I'm crashing.

See you all again in 2 weeks.

I was also in attendance, and had a great time.

Great music all around, especially from Rich (DJ 24_7), Peter (djeso), and Barry (DJ_Ampz).

Headed back into the city with Kevin (tw1tch), after grabbing a bunch of parcels from my parents'. Thanks again to Kevin for the drive back home...

Sorry to hear the party was ended prematurely for some, however, it seems like everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves ;)

Hopefully I will be able to make it out for the next event, on the 13th... Thanks again to all those who made the evening possible, especially all the TAs who made the trek out.

Well. That was fun.

I think it was Rich who started with wicked dirty tech trance stuff and then flowed into some good trance. Three Drives - Greece 2000 = tune of the night. :) Peter was on for a while and continued the good flow. Marco V - Automanual = another good party tune. Aided by liquid inhibition remover (aka alcohol) as Ampz played a good set whoever was left danced by designating a spot as dance floor. Fun. :)

Let's see if I can remember whoever introduced themselves to me.
Lowell (that curry wasn't that spicy) and his lovely wife Amy, his sister Lindsey, Theresa, Jason, Elliot and his gf Annie, Peter, Rich, Chris, Karen (learn to use chopsticks!:)), Tim and Barry.
My pleasure at meeting your acquintances. (And sorry whoever I left out because I suffer from absent minded academia syndrome)

Awesome party! much respect to the dj's! I hope we're allowed back there again! TA's made the night awesome as usual. I'll write more later. Sleep for now.

I don't think Dan should ever drink again! :eyespop:

I was a bit worried the night was off to a bad start when we showed up at the Rude Native and they didn't have anywhere to seat us. I know every one I came with plus myself were very hungry! :) But luckily we spent enough time waiting for late arrivals that they found us a table.

The Rude Native itself was really nice. The dinner and converstation were great -- although the food was a little on pricey side. We might have to find something a little easier on the budget next time. But I doubt we'll find anywhere closer to the Vault ;)

After we walked over to the Vault, the DJ booth was set up pretty quickly and the great music started playing -- well, in the room where hardly any TA's were! Luckily that little sound problem was taken care of quickly.. with some variations in the treble and bass levels along the way.

It wasn't long before people (yes, even including myself periodically) were up dancing. There was a little bit of space by the DJ booth, but it might be nice to try and change the setup to allow for more space and a place where people aren't always going to be wanting to get by. I don't know what the club owners would think of that.

One thing I don't think the owners can complain about would be the amount of alcohol purchased -- even if one of the bartenders wasn't happy about the tips. I swear -- I thought I was tipping well and she still ignored me half the time.

My rating? 8/10 for atmosphere, 7/10 for the club itself, 9/10 for the music, and 10/10 for the people :) A nice 8.5 average.

Hope to see you all at the next one (two weeks from now)!

Oh, can anybody ID that Benz & MD track played last night? I forget who spun it but it was awesome as hell.

Hooray for Canadian producers!
