WOW....ING WOW. Giant Village was AMAZING tonight. i got inline around 7:00 they started letting people in at about 8:30 (little late i would say) but other than that the night was key. i thought ahead and started drinkin in the parking lot before i went in so as to save money. i headed right over to the hope stage where Justin Gourely & John Do (Avaland Residents) were throwing down a might set to open up for Desyn Masiello. 9:30 rolls around and Mr. Masiello hops on the decks and reminds us all why he's the newest trainee under the Bedrock label. a very VERY moving house set from Desyn, top notch. 11:00 PM, John 'mothering' Digweed arrives and throws down the best 6 hour prog/electro house/trance set i have ever heard in my life. but alas my night is not over i decide to sample the djs of the evening. Contrary to popular belief Paul Oakenfold played a very well put together set, a nice blend of old & new with the standard Oakie tracks:
ppk - resurrection
u2 - where the streets have no name (perfecto mix)
sarah mclachlan - world is on fire (jxl club mix)
oakenfold - southern sun (g&d remix)
others....
Desyn Masiello played some awesome tracks...i can't remember alot of thenm because i was SOOOOO DRUNK. Diggers played some good stuff too:
Dirty Vegas - Walk Into The Sun (King Unique remix)
Chable & Bonnicci - Ride (KU Remix)
Guy Gerber - Stoppage Time <-the first track of 2005!!!!
some song that i dont remember the name of...BUT Flash Brothers played it. Anyway its 5:30 im going to pass out i hope i dont have a hangover tomorrow.

i hope all of us had a very safe and happy new years celebration weather it be with Giant Village, Tiesto, or simply a house party with friends & family. what matters is we all celebrated and had a great time....and we were all together in spirit. united by electronic music i know we had each other in our thoughts. thank you SoCal GOOD NIGHT!!!

ps
who's going to Avalon tonight for Junkie XL & Desyn Masiello? ME!

pps
another beautiful thing that happened tonight:
this couple had their first date at Giant 2 years ago when Digweed last spun, their first kiss was at midnight....tonight they got married AT the Giant Village with digweed on the decks. thats a beautiful thing.
Orbital32
wow! that's one way to get married... that's is awesome!

Giant this year was awesome!!! got there around 9ish, waited in line for about 20 min., roamed around for a bit. checked out the hope stage, and wished i could've stayed there longer (super impressed with justin gourely, john do, and masiello), but i had to scope out my spot for oakey. the plan was to find a close spot to the front while the Killers were on stage. i have to add though, the KROQ- Killers fans were a bunch of uncivilized barbaric people; pushing, fighting, shoving, and elbowing, everyone/anyone in the vicinity. i was SO glad when they were off stage(even though i thought they put on a great show) and oakey come on.
i was skeptical that oakey could bring it, since the last couple times i saw him i wasnt all that impressed. but i have to agree w ith dj bas on this one. his set was sick. besides the few classic tracks already mentioned dont forget PILEDRIVER and PROPHET!!! damn, that was amazing.
anyhow, NYE 2005 was a huge success in my book, and im already loooking forward to NYE 2006! Hope everyone had a great time at Giant/Tiest0/ wherever the night may have taken you.

ps: on the way back to orange county i witnessed 4 accidents within a 15 mile span of the freeway. just a reminder to be careful, and hope everyone had a safe holiday.

great nite @ giant. thanks to whoever that the weather was coopearating, clearing blue sky.
they finally did the countdown right this year n beautiful fireworks.

Desyn Masiello was really impressive- probably the best set of the nite
------------
Oakie pulled out good selections but the mixing was so so: He def. tied together many tracks with NY theme.
ppk - resurrection (omg, i fcuking freak out)
u2 - where the streets have no name (perfecto mix)
world is on fire (jxl club mix)
southern sun
Perfect Wave
radiohead-idioteque
-----------
Crytal Method-they suck!
-----------
Digweed was pretty good- we were hopping around so didnt hear to much of his set!
Rowan Blades & Chris Lak -Filth
Spektrum-Kinda new
------------
someone played Dirty Vegas-Days Go By --think was oakie!

I had fun during Desyn's set at the Flower Stage. He really impressed me. Unfortunately, the Flower Stage did not utilize the "halo of lights" that Giant promised to deliver. The lighting at the Flower Stage was the worst ever I have seen at any event. But of course, Desyn made up for that. After checking out Digweed for half an hour, I went to the main stage for Oakenfold. They had a good countdown, fireworks, and trance to ring in the new year. Unfortunately for me, just minutes before the countdown, some bitch and her man attempted to steal my wallet in my backpocket thus killing my mood. Be aware of people bumping into you when your in huge crowds like I was in last night. Cause just like that couple I unfortunately had to deal with, they might have an ulterior motive for the bumping.

what the hell there were other TA's at Giant lol. i didn't see anyone!! but holy i was soo wasted during Desyn's set heh. i dont remember any of the tracks he played i just remember being there :). and yeah oakey played days go by, i think digweed played the best set of the night...that man is a mixing machine!

I wanted to be there soo badly. but my newyears was spent with family in colorado, so while i guess it was nice, it was not that fun at all. :)

but i talked to two of my friends who were there during the event and both of them had an incredible time. one of my friends somehow snuck his way on stage while oakie was playing and was dancing up there during his set. afterwards he got punched by one of the security guyards :P
trancexguy
yea...giant village was awesome! one of my favortie massives i been to by far. oakenfold was aight. digweed was off the hook! too bad they didnt turn on the halo lights as promised. that that would of been dope too!

sup all,
Giant was a blast, had so much fun. It was the first time I saw Digweed and I must say I was impressed. First of all respect to John Doe cuz he threw down a good set. Desyn was fun, good set, I liked how he got drunk after his set, he was funny. Digweed was amazin droppin hits like:
a remix (I think) of chab feat jd davis - closer to me
chris lake vs rowan blades - filth (greed is evil mix)
spektrum - kinda new (tiefschwarz dub)
and others...
Had a lot of fun and now gonna wait a bit b4 i hit the clubs again. Hope everyone else had as much fun as I did.
Peace

Giant NYE was OK this year. I hung out near the front of the Hope stage where Desyn Masiello and Diggers lit it up. After the countdown, I went over to see what Oakey was doing and came away pretty under whelmed. His set was messy and his mixing was poor with lots of hard cuts and fades. It didn't seem like he was into it. Track selection left a lot to be desired as well. I went back over to see Diggers after Oakey finish and was warmly reminded of how seamless Diggers mixes. Also, they stopped serving drinks at 1:30am which was a big bummer. All in all, it was not a bad event but it certainly doesn't hold a candle to Giants NYE 2003.
